Read yaa seen three times a day Ramadan.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

I WANT TO KNOW IS THERE ANYTHING CALLED BARAD? 15 DAYS BEFORE RAMADAN PEOPLE READ 3 YASIN ON THAT DAY

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Read yaa seen three times a day Ramadan

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: I WANT TO KNOW IS THERE ANYTHING CALLED BARAD?

The literal meaning of the Arabic word and term ‘Barad’ means hail-stones.

If by ‘Barad’ you mean to imply an occasion, or a rite, or a ritual, or a commemoration in the deen of Islam, to the best of our knowledge, there is absolutely no such occasion, or rite, or ritual, or commemoration called a ‘barad’ in Islamic Jurisprudence.

Your Statement: 15 DAYS BEFORE RAMADAN PEOPLE READ 3 YASIN ON THAT DAY

The believers are at absolute liberty to recite as much of the Glorious Quran as is easy or convenient for them every day of the year; and there is absolutely no doubt that the recitation of the Glorious Quran at all times, and especially in the blessed month of Ramadan, is an highly meritorious act of worship and remembrance in the Sight of the Lord.

To the best of our knowledge, there is absolutely no evidence in the authentic and established Sunnah whereby the Messenger of Allah (saws) himself practiced, or endorsed, or encouraged the believers to recite the specific and blessed Surah Yaa-Seen three times on a particular day, either in the month of Ramadan or otherwise!

One is at absolute liberty to recite as much of the Glorious Quran or any of its Surahs as often as they wish and please….but to self-invent a belief or a rite that the recitation of a specific Surah, for a specific number of times, at a specific time, on a specific day or night of the year, etc. is meritorious in the Sight of Allah Subhanah when Allah and His Messenger (saws) have not prescribed or endorsed the act would be a manifestation of the abomination of a ‘bida’ or innovation in the pure and perfect deen of Islam!

Aisha narrated that the Messenger of Allah (saws) said: ‘If somebody innovates something which is not present in our religion, then that thing will be rejected.’

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 4515  Narrated by Ali ibn AbuTalib

That the Prophet of Allah (saws) said: “If anyone introduces an innovation (in religion),  he will be responsible for it.   If anyone introduces an innovation or gives shelter to a man who introduces an innovation (in religion),  he is cursed by Allah,  by His Angels,  and by all the people.”

Sahih Muslim Hadith 1885     Narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah

That the Prophet of Allah (saws) said in a sermon:  “The best speech is that which is embodied in the Book of Allah, the Al Quran;  and the best guidance is the guidance given by me, Mohamed (saws).   The most evil affairs are the innovations,  and every innovation is an error.”

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws),   one can be assured of never ever being misled;   but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
