Can we throw quran in the sea
Mu' meneen Brothers
and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa
Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be
upon all of you)
One of our
brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Dear Burhan,
Alsalam Alaikum,
with regards to
the above mentioned email about the torn pages of Koran, we are of the habbit
to throw these away in the sea, especially the little ayas that are accompanied
by the mortuaries in the news papers which are there on an almost daily basis.
Is it wrong to
throw these in the sea ?
Thank you.

Answer:
In the name of Allah, We praise
Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none
can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.
We bear witness that there is no one (no idol,
no person, no grave, no
prophet, no imam, no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
It is best to either honorably
bury or even burn the torn pages of the Quran,
or torn pages of the newspapers or magazines where the Revelations of
Allah Subhanah are mentioned. There is
no harm if one disperses such pages in the sea, but there is always a chance that the papers will float back onto
land and might be dishonored or stepped upon unknowingly by people.
Whatever written of Truth and
benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error
is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He
is the Only Source of Strength.
Your Brother in
Islam,
