Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Greetings to all.... I grow in a very Devoted Roman Catholic family but I always have a doubt in my hearth because of contradiction of our bible against some practices just like to bow down on statues and term "trinity".

2. If allah is all knowing, why is it that he need to test his creation where in fact he knows already before he created certain person if he will be good or bad for he is all-knowing.

Answer:

Why test when Allah knows

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 21 Surah Anbiyaa verse 35:

35      Every soul shall have a taste of death: and We test you by evil and by good (only) by way of trial: to Us must ye return.

Allah says in the Holy Quran in Chapter 67 Surah Al Mulk verse 2:

He (Allah) created death and life that He may test you, to see which of you is the best in deeds.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 6.473         Narrated by Ali

While we were in a funeral procession in Baqi graveyard, and the Messenger of Allah (saws) came and sat down, and we sat around him. He (saws) had a small stick in his hand and he (saws) bent his head and started scraping the ground with it. He (saws) then said, "There is none among you, and no created soul but has his place written for him either in Paradise or in the Hell-Fire, and also has his happy or miserable fate (in the Hereafter) written for him."  A companion asked "O Allah's Messenger (saws), shall we depend upon what is written for us and give up doing (good) deeds? For whoever among us is destined to be fortunate (in the Hereafter) will join the fortunate people, and whoever among us is destined to be miserable will do such deeds as are characteristic of the people who are destined to misery." The Prophet (saws) said, "Those who are destined to be happy (in the Hereafter) will find it easy and pleasant to do the deeds characteristic of those destined to happiness, while those who are to be among the miserable (in the Hereafter), will find it easy to do the deeds characteristic of those destined to misery." Then he (saws) recited (Quran 92: 5-10)

5        So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah)

6        And (in all sincerity) testifies to the Best

7        We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss.

8        But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient.

9        And gives the lie to the Best

10      We will indeed make smooth for him the path to misery.

Allah Subhanah indeed is the All-Knowing, and He indeed Knows well who amongst His creation will do deeds which will gain His Mercy and Forgiveness….and who amongst them will doubt, deny, reject His Guidance, and transgress His Boundaries…. and thus deserve His Wrath and His Anger!

The Lord Most Majestic is All-Knowing indeed, but He is also The All-Wise and The All-Just…and His Justice has to be manifest…..Please allow us to relate an example to clarify our point:

Suppose there is a teacher in a school or class who has taught a group of students for a whole year…at the end of the year, the teacher has a very good idea who amongst his students were attentive to the lectures, did their homework, worked hard, and deserve to pass; and who amongst his students were un-attentive, took it easy, made jest and a mockery of the subject matter and deserve to fail.

But in spite of knowing well who would pass and who would fail, the teacher puts the whole class, the good and the bad, through a final test or exam and gives each student an equal opportunity to pass the class.   If the teacher simply passed and failed the students according to his own knowledge and determination, the students who failed would have had an opportunity to at least claim that they were not given a fair chance!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 41 Surah Haa Meem verse 46:

46      Whoever works righteousness benefits his own soul; whoever works evil it is  against his own soul: nor is thy Lord ever unjust (in the least) to His servants!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 22 Surah Hajj verses 7-10:

7        And verily the Hour will come: there can be no doubt about it or about (the fact) that Allah will raise up all who are in the graves.

8        Yet there is among men such a one as disputes about Allah without knowledge, without guidance, and without a Book of Enlightenment.

9        (Disdainfully) bending his side in order to (lead men) astray from the Path of Allah; for him there is disgrace in this life and on the Day of Judgment we shall make him taste the Penalty of burning (Fire).

10      (It will be said): "This is because of the deeds which thy hands sent forth for verily Allah is never unjust to His servants!

Similarly in the Scheme and Plan of the Lord Most Majestic, although He Knows Well Who amongst His creation will pass and who will fail the ‘test of life’, He gives each and every individual an equal opportunity to do deeds according to their bestowed ‘free will’ and give their Decreed ‘test of life’…..so that none of them are left with an excuse when their results are declared in Truth in the Hereafter.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 39 Surah Zumar verses 54-61:

54      Turn ye to your Lord (in repentance) and bow to His (Will) before the Penalty comes on you: after that ye shall not be helped.

55      And follow the Best of (the courses) revealed to you from your Lord before the Penalty comes on you of a sudden while ye perceive not!--

56      Lest the soul should (then) say: ‘Ah! Woe unto me! In that I neglected (my duty) towards Allah and was but among those who mocked!'

57      Or (lest) it should say: `If only Allah had guided me I should certainly have been among the righteous!'

58      "Or (lest) it should say when it (actually) sees the Penalty: `If only I had another chance I should certainly be among those who do good!'

59      "(The reply will be) `Nay, but there came to thee My signs and thou didst reject them: thou wast haughty and became one of those who rejected Faith!'

60      On the Day of Judgement wilt thou see those who told lies against Allah; their faces will be turned black; is there not in Hell an abode for the haughty?

61      But Allah will deliver the righteous to their place of salvation: no evil shall touch them nor shall they grieve.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 67 Surah Mulk verses 6-11:

6        For those who reject their Lord is the Penalty of Hell: and evil is (such) destination.

7        When they are cast therein they will hear the (terrible) drawing in of its breath, even as it blazes forth.

8        Almost bursting with fury: every time a group is cast therein its keepers (the Angels) will ask "Did no warner come to you?"

9        They will say: "Yes indeed: a warner did come to us but we rejected him and said `Allah never sent down any (Message): ye are in nothing but an egregious delusion!' "

10      They will further say: "Had we but listened or used our intelligence we should not (now) be among the companions of the Blazing Fire!"

11      They will then confess their sins: but far will be (Forgiveness) from the companions of the Blazing Fire!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 39 Surah Zumar verses 71-72:

71      The unbelievers will be led to Hell in crowds; until when they arrive there its gates will be opened and its Keepers (the Angels) will say "Did not Messengers come to you from among yourselves rehearsing to you the Signs of your Lord and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" The answer will be: "True: but the decree of punishment has been proved true against the unbelievers!"

72      (To them) will be said: "Enter ye the gates of Hell to dwell therein: and evil is (this) abode of the arrogant!"

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 35 Surah Fatir verses 36-37:

36      But those who reject (Allah) for them will be the Fire of Hell: no term shall be determined for them so they should die nor shall its Penalty be lightened for them: thus do We reward every ungrateful ones!

37      Therein will they cry aloud (for assistance): "O Our Lord!  Bring us out: we shall work righteousness not the (deeds) we used to do!"  Did We not give you long enough life so that he that would should receive admonition?  And (moreover) the Warner came to you!  So taste ye (the fruit of your deeds): for the wrongdoers there is no helper."

Thus my beloved Sister, the Decreed ‘test of life’ is not to test the All-Encompassing Knowledge of Allah Subhanah, but rather to manifest the Supreme Justice of the Lord Most-Just.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
