Question No. 861 Read Quran once and then decide
Mu' meneen Brothers
and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi
wa Barakatuh. (May
Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this
question:
walaikum salaam
U know what
Mustafa means, the Choosen
One. So, why is this Choosen one wasting this
Yes, plz note, ofcourse, it doesnt mean, i want to just read
it without meaning. But, there are ways to get the meaning (batil and zahiri ilm) of the Quran. And i personally dont feel one can do
justice to it by reading the translations. Yes, u might argue that whats the harm in gaining the minimum knowledge from the
translations.. But then i wud say, who knows these translations are what they are
saying or what we understand from them.
How do we know if
they are right or no?. Who will judge that?. If there is someone required to judge what is right and
what is wrong, then why not learn from him itself.
How can a group of
so called intellectuals decide via translations whats
come from Allah Subahnah. Isnt
it similar to what happened in the time of M. Ali when the the
so called Islamic leader of the Sunnis was elected democratically.
Dont u know that M. Ali had spent an entire night on explaining the
various meanings on just the nukta of the first
letter in the Holy Quran. So, how can these
translations even think of giving that much knowledge as is there in It. I dont know abt u, but i sincerely believe
that the entire Ilm necessary to live life in this
universe is hidden in the Holy Quran. Then how can
our mortal minds gather so much. Well, we need to follow a path. But the very
basic step is to follow the basic daily routines of Islam and our sharia. If one doesnt even do
that, then whats the use of learning about the
details. After all, what is Islam, for me its a way of
living life.
After saying all
this, i still tell u, that at times, i do read some verses in their english meanings. But then, i
sincerely dont know whether they are right or wrong.
Do read the mail
twice b4 u reply or put any more allegations on me.
Now from this mail
of mine, plz note, im not
saying that i follow the sharia
to its fullest. Im a sinner (isnt
everyone?) and try and do what I can do best. And ofcourse,
try and do more than best.
Repeat... plz read this mail twice b4 putting any more allegations on
me.
Thanx and Regards,
(There may

Answer:
In the name of Allah, We praise
Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none
can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.
We bear witness that there is no one (no idol,
no person, no grave, no
prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone,
and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of
His Messengers.
I have taken your advice and not
only read your mail twice, but I must have read it at least 10 times, before I
decided to pen my thoughts to the brother I love so much. My beloved brother, I will gain no benefit nor any worldly reward for inviting you to
understand the Glorious Quran! Allah is my witness, I do it for no other
reason than that I love and respect you, and fear the advent of an Inevitable
Day, where all excuses will come to a standstill in the Just Court of Allah!
Firstly, I would like to say
that in principle I agree wholeheartedly with you on most of the key points
that you have mentioned; and humbly differ with you on a few!
Both of us agree that Allah is
our Lord and Creator; that Islam is the deen that He
has chosen for His slaves; that it is Allah Who revealed His Message of the
Glorious Quran to His Chosen Messenger, Mohamed ar-Rasool Allah (saws); and that Islam is the Way of Life
that a believer has to follow in order to attain the Mercy and Forgiveness of
Allah Subhanah.
Where we differ, is in the
understanding of this Glorious Revelation of our very Lord and Creator.
I just cannot imagine the Just
Lord sending us a manual for the Way of Life which we cannot understand, nor are
supposed to understand…. And then on the Day of Judgement, He will Judge us
according to this very manual!!!
I am unable to comprehend the
wisdom behind sending this Revelation in a form which is incomprehensible to
the average man… but only a few ‘chosen’ people are supposed to understand this
Way of Life!
I am unable to understand why
would the Just Lord send His Revelation, and make it full of riddles, and hide
the names of these ‘chosen’ people deep in the aayahs
of the Quran… and when one cannot decipher the names
of these ‘chosen’ people, then he would burn them in the Hell Fire for
eternity!
The Glorious Quran
was not revealed to a people who were Harvard or Yale Graduates! The immediate audience of
the Quran were the beduins
and the Arabs, and the Quran was revealed in their
very language and dialect… so that all of them could understand the clear
message of this Glorious Book! It does
not behove the Justice of our Just Lord to send His
Message to the people in a language or form that they cannot understand or
comprehend!
To say that Ameer
ul Mumineen, Imam Ali (r.a.) spent a whole night
explaining the ‘nukta’ of the alphabet ‘ba’, and did not complete his sermon… is nothing short of
blasphemy and a lie which some unscrupulous people have concocted to keep the
believers away from the guidance of the Message of Allah Subhanah!
Can you imagine our fallacy, that we are ready to believe this lie which some
people have attributed to the noble self of Imam Ali (r.a.), but we are not ready to believe the clear
words of Allah Subhanah!
Allah says in Chapter
2, Surah Baqarah aayat 185:"Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was sent down: this Book is a perfect guidance for
mankind and consists of CLEAR teachings which show the right way and are a
Criterion of the Truth and falsehood."
Allah says the Book is a perfect
guidance and consists of clear teachings and is a barometer for the Truth and
falsehood! But some men say this Book
is incomprehensible and impossible to understand.
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 44 Surah Dukhan verse 58:We have made this
Book easy in your own tongue so that they may ponder and take good counsel.
Allah says He has made this Book
easy and in your own tongue so that we can think deeply about its verses! But
some men people say that it cannot be understood!
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 43 Surah Zukhruf verses 1-3:Haa Meem. By this lucid (clear or open) Book. We have made it an Arabic Quran, so that you may understand it.
Allah swears in the Quran by His Own Words; the Quran
“Mubeen” which literally means clear or open. And then Allah declares that He made it clear
and open so that you may understand it. But some men
say this Book is incomprehensible and impossible to understand!!
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 12 Surah
Yusuf verse 1-2:These are the verses of the Book that
makes its object perfectly clear. We
have sent it down as a Quran in Arabic, so that you
may understand it well.
Allah says the aayahs of the Quran make its
intentions and objects perfectly clear, so that we can understand it! But some men say this Book
is incomprehensible and impossible to understand!!
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 16 Surah Nahl verse 89:We have sent down to you this Book, which
makes everything plain, and is a guidance, blessing and good news to those who
have surrendered themselves entirely.
Allah Himself says this Book
makes everything plain, and is a guidance for the muslims. But some men say this Book is incomprehensible and
impossible to understand!!
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 19 Surah Maryam verse 97:O Mohamed, We have made this Quran easy, and
sent it down in your tongue so that you should give good news to the pious and
warn the stubborn people.
Allah says that He has made this
Quran easy. But some men say this Book is
incomprehensible and impossible to understand!!
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 18 Surah Kahf verse 1-3:All praise is for
Allah Alone, Who has sent down this Book to His Servant (Mohamed (saws), and
assigned nothing crooked to it. This
Book says everything directly, so that he may warn the people of the severe
chastisement of Allah and give good news to the believers, who do righteous deeds, that they will have an excellent reward.
Allah Himself declares that
there is absolutely nothing crooked in this Quran. It says everything absolutely directly. But some men say this Book is nothing but a
book of riddles, innuendoes and hints… and there is absolutely no way for us
‘fools’ to understand it… especially, after some people have convinced some
simple people with their lies that even a scholar and Imam like Hadrat Ali (r.a.) could not
complete his sermon of the ‘nukta’ below the letter ‘ba’! We are ready
to believe the lies that some people have attributed to Imam Ali; but we cannot
take the word of our Lord who says nothing crooked is assigned to the Glorious Quran!!! We have so
convinced ourselves with the blatant lie that the whole wisdom of the Quran is centered in the ‘nukta’
of the alphabet ‘ba’ or ‘jeem’
or whatever….but we just cannot come to the conviction to believe what our
Merciful Lord has declared in His Glorious Message!!!!!
Brother, the truth is that this
fabricated story of the ‘nukta below the letter ba’ are not the noble words of Imam Ali (r.a.), but are the Satanic philosophies of the unscrupulous
people who are more interested in inviting mankind to become their slaves,
rather than inviting them to become the slaves of Allah Subhanah!
Brother, you can justify your
not wanting to understand to me; you can even justify and convince yourself
that the Quran is a Book of Allah which cannot be
understood by normal human beings; you can even justify it to the whole world
and they might buy your excuse…. But I guarantee you, after reading the Holy Quran yourself, that these feeble excuses
will not stand in the Just Court of Allah Subhanah!
Just imagine the state on the
Day of Judgement, of those who had the opportunity to
read and understand the Quran, but chose not to do so
because some supposed ‘holy-men’ told him that it was not for them to
understand the Message of Allah themselves!
Can you even imagine the state of the person in the court of Allah. Allah will
ask him, “Did you receive my message, the Al Quran?”. The person will
answer, “Yes, I received it. But I
could not understand Arabic so I just kept on reading it day and night, without
understand a word of it, hoping for Your Barakah and
Blessing. I thought that You would be angry with me and punish me if I tried to
understand the Quran in any other language, so I
stayed far away from understanding it.
I believed every word of the ‘holy-men’ who warned us not to read the
translation or we would get mis-guided.” And Allah will ask, “The Holy Quran
was sent for the guidance of all mankind, how could it possibly misguide
anybody who tries to get guidance from it.
Who are these ‘holy men’ and what authority did they have to stop you
from understanding the Holy Quran?”
Brother, you just give this
scenario on the Day of Resurrection some thought, and then decide for yourself
which path is better. Our only
invitation to you is to try and understand the Holy Quran
once, and if after reading and understanding it once, you still think that your
‘holy men’ are right, by all means, obey and follow them. But at least read and understand the words
of Allah, ONCE! Allah will never mis-guide you if you are truly looking for guidance! But if anyone insists in following his
forefathers and his leaders blindly, without taking any guidance from the
Glorious Quran, then Allah allows such people to go
astray. All of us, willingly or
unwillingly, have to return to Allah, and Allah will decide between us on the
Day of Judgment. But then it will be
too late!! For your sake, for your
family’s sake, for your children’s sake, for your progeny’s (your descendants
till the Day of Judgement) sake … read the Glorious Quran once, and then decide for yourself. Is that an unreasonable offer from a brother
and friend who fears the advent for you of an Inevitable Day in the Court of
Allah Subhanah?
The very leaders and holy men
that we bow down and invoke and worship today, and take their word and their
stories above the Word of Allah Subhanah, will disown
us and become our ardent enemies in the Court of Allah! Allah Alone is the Master of the Day of
Judgment… and all the people and graves we invoke day and night have absolutely
no power and no authority from Allah Subhanah! All these supposed ‘holy men’ who have
promised us their intercession, will deny us … for they had no right to make
these promises in the first place, and nor will they be able to fulfill their
promises on the Day of Judgement!
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anam verse 94:(And Allah will
say), “So, you have come before Us all alone, as We created you at first. Now, you have left behind all that We gave you in the world.
Now We do not see with you those ‘shufa’a’(intercessors),
who, you believed, had a share in moulding your
destinies! All the relations between you
and them have been cut off, and all those, in whom you trusted, have left you
in the lurch.”
This is the scenario Allah
presents to the believers in the Holy Quran about
those people who trusted their intercessors, rather than the Words of Allah Subhanah! All
their lives these people invoked and called upon their ‘holy men’ and thought
these people could mould their destinies in this world and help them in the
Hereafter! But Allah Subhanah Himself says that He will cut off all the
relations between such people, and all those ‘holy men’ they trusted to
intercede for them in the Court of Allah, will leave them in the lurch!
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 10 Surah Yunus verse 18:These people worship
beside Allah those which can neither harm nor benefit them, and say, “These are
our ‘shofa’a’ (intercessors) with Allah!” O Mohammed, tell them, “Do you wish to inform
Allah of that thing which He knows to be neither in the heavens nor in the earth?” He is absolutely free from, and exalted above
the shirk that they commit.
Allah exhorts the people to use
their common sense when they invoke self-made intercessors, who have absolutely
no authority from Allah Subhanah. Allah tells the Prophet (saws) to ask them
sarcastically, whether by invoking the intercessors to take their duas to Allah, do they wish to inform Allah of something
which He does not already know!!! Allah
has termed this system of ‘wasila’ as shirk in the
Holy Quran… and Shirk is a sin which Allah has
promised in the Quran never to forgive on the Day of Judgement! And
Allah Subhanah never ever goes against His Promises.
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 40 Surah Mumin verse 47-48:Then imagine the
time when these people will be disputing with one another in Hell. The weak ones will say to the haughty ones,
“We were your followers! Now, can you
save us from some part of our punishment in Hell?” The haughty ones will say, “We are all in
the same state here, and Allah has already passed judgment between His
servants.”
Allah draws a scene and
conversation between the supposed and arrogant holy men whom the people
followed in the life of this world, hoping that they would help them in the
Hereafter! No one has the power or authority
to alter or influence the Decision of Allah Subhanah.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verses 165-167:There are
people who set up equals and rivals with Allah and adore them with the
adoration due to Allah! Whereas the believers adore Allah most ardently. Would that these transgressors could realize
now what they will realize, when they see the chastisement before them: that power and authority wholly belong to
Allah, and that Allah is severe in punishment!
When He will inflict punishment, those very leaders and guides whom they
followed in the world will disown them. But punishment they shall get and all
their bonds shall be cut off. Then those
who followed them will say, “Would that we were given another chance to return
to the world. Then we will disown them
just as they have disowned us today!”
Thus Allah will bring before them the deeds they did in the world in
such a manner as to make them wring their hands in regret, but they shall be
unable to come out of the Fire.
Allah Himself declares that the
very leaders and guides whom they followed in the world will disown them on the
Day of Judgement!
But then it would be too late for those who invoked these people and
their graves, and all they will be able to do is wring their hands in regret
and disgust!
Brother, I can quote aayah upon aayah from the Quran to prove to you that it is Allah Alone Who deserves
our awe, our attention, our belief, our invocation, our rites of worship, and
our sajdah!
All those in whom we believe besides Allah, are nothing but the slaves
of Allah Subhanah… and no one has any power or
influence in the Court of Allah Subhanah!
My beloved brother, read the Quran once with understanding… and then decide what Path
you want to take to your Lord. That is
all I ask of you! My duty as your
brother, friend, and well-wisher was to invite you to the Revelations of
Allah. To accept my invitation, or deny
it… is entirely upto you.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 18 Surah Kahf verses 103-106:Tell them (O
Mohamed), “Should We tell you who are the most unsuccessful people and
miserable failures in regard to their deeds?
They are those, all whose endeavours in the
worldly life, had gone astray from the
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 18 Surah Kahf verse 29:Proclaim, “This (Quran) is the Truth from your Lord: now whosoever wills may accept it, and
whosoever wills may reject it.” (As for those who reject it) We have prepared
for such workers of iniquity a fire whose flames have encircled them. There, if they ask for water, they will be
given a drink like the dregs of oil, which will burn their mouths! What an evil drink, and what an evil abode!
Whatever written of Truth and
benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error
is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He
is the Only Source of Strength.
Your Brother in Islam,
Burhan
