One is homosexual

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Salam, can you please help me? In Islam, is being (not acting) homosexual a choice? If yes, then why do people choose that way?

I believe that it`s not a choice to be homosexual because I`ve been struggling with myself for as long as I can remember. However, I believe that the homosexual acts are forbidden in Islam as described in the Quran. I believe this because I don`t recall the Quran ever mention that someone can`t be homosexual but it clearly forbids the acts. I believe I am religious and try to do everything for God`s sake. I have always wondered why I was always this way because I believe I was growing up my entire life in an Islamic environment. Do you have any advice for me? Do my points make sense? It would be very helpful if you provide me with feedback. I`ve searched for help through so many ways, but no one responds to my questions, I`m in huge need of help / guidance.

Thank you for your time.

Answer:

One is homosexual

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale-Imraan verse 14:

14      Fair in the eyes of men is the love of things they covet: women and sons; heaped-up hoards of gold and silver; horses branded (for blood and excellence); and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land.  Such are the possessions of this world's life; but in nearness to Allah is the best of the goals (to return to).

Dear and beloved brother, the very nature bestowed upon every man by the Lord Creator is the natural attraction towards women, off-spring, wealth, vehicle, property, etc. Every man is born on the exact same nature or ‘fitrah’, and by nature they are attracted towards these things.

Beloved brother, Allah Subhanah does not create anyone a sinner by birth or nature, but man of his own free will chooses to do good or do evil.   No person is created a homosexual, or rapist, or murderer, or thief, etc.; but rather these are evil deviations of man himself, which he chooses to do of his own free will and choice.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraf verses 80-82:

And We sent Lot as a Messenger.  And he said to his people, “Have you become so shameless that you commit such indecent acts as no one committed before you in the world?  You gratify your lust with men instead of women.  Indeed you are a people who are transgressors of all limits!”  But the only answer his people gave was, “turn out these people from your habitations for they pose to be very pious.”

Contrary to popular belief, and without an iota of a doubt, homosexuality is an evil deviation and choice of man himself; and thus he will be held to severe account in the Presence of the Majestic Lord on an Inevitable Day for his evil deviation.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 11 Surah Hud verses 82-83:

Accordingly,  when the time of the execution of Our Judgement came (for the people of Lot),  We turned the habitation upside down and rained on it stones of baked clay,  each of which had been specifically marked by your Lord.   And such a scourge is not far from the tyrannous people!

Homosexuality is absolutely, totally, and unconditionally forbidden in Islam! It is an abomination and a grave sin in the eyes of Allah, and Shariah or Islamic Law prescribes capital punishment for those who are convicted of committing this abomination! Such is the severity of this abomination of a sin in the Sight of Allah Subhanah.

This deed is deemed un-natural and against humanity and righteous society in Islam.   This deed is an evil and immoral deviation of man, and is not even found in the lower forms of animate life!   Allah destroyed the whole habitation of Prophet Lot, and turned the whole city upside-down, and rained on them a rain of brim-stones for their sin of homosexuality.   It was not that every individual in Sodom and Gomorrah who were destroyed committed sodomy;  but even those who accepted it,  propagated it, looked upto it as a norm and fashion,  and allowed it without raising a voice against this abomination, were all destroyed by Allah Subhanah.

I believe that it`s not a choice to be homosexual because I`ve been struggling with myself for as long as I can remember.

All Praise is due to Allah Subhanah Alone Who has guided you and given you the wisdom to realize that homosexuality is a grave sin and transgression in the Sight of Allah Subhanah.

The absolute first thing one needs to do when one has transgressed any Law of the Lord Most High is to turn back to Him seeking sincere repentance and forgiveness; it is expected that they will find their Lord Forgiving and Merciful.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 39 Surah Zumur verses 53-54:

(O Prophet) say: “O My servants who have wronged their own souls….Do not despair of Allah’s Mercy!  Surely,  Allah forgives all sins.   He indeed is the All Forgiving,  All Merciful.   Return to your Lord and submit to Him before the scourge overtakes you;  for then you may get no help from anywhere.”

Do you have any advice for me? Do my points make sense? It would be very helpful if you provide me with feedback.

If you are indeed sincere in your seeking of repentance from your Lord Most Gracious, constantly fear the standing in the Lord Most High’s Tribunal on an Eventful Day, make an absolutely solemn intention and promise that you will never ever return to sin again, and remain constant in the Remembrance of your Lord Most High…it is expected that you will find your Lord Forgiving and Merciful.

Brother being homosexual is definitely an evil choice that one makes. If it was natural then Allah swt would not have admonished this act and destroyed the people of Sodom and Gomorrah for practicing this evil.

Dear and Beloved Brother in Islam, whatever you do, fear Allah and be constant is seeking help and guidance from the Lord Most Merciful from the evil designs of your and our avowed enemy, the Shaytaan, whose one and only mission of existence is to inspire man to disobey Allah and transgress His Bounds.  Thus constantly seek help and guidance from Allah Subhanah, and anytime the Shaytaan inspires and incites your heart towards the transgression of Allah, immediately turn towards Allah Subhanah and seek His Refuge from the whisperings of this avowed enemy of mankind and his evil designs.  It is expected that Allah Subhanah will save you and guide you to the Straight Path.

The shaitaan is the main instigator of this evil act and it is this arch enemy of mankind that instigates some amongst mankind to practice homosexuality. The very fact that a small percentage do this evil confirms that it is a choice which some make and the majority do not.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 41 Surah Haa Meem verse 36: And if (at any time) an incitement to discord is made to thee by the Shaytaan, seek refuge in Allah.  He is the One Who Hears and Knows all things.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verses 200-201:

200    If a suggestion from Shaytaan assail thy (mind) seek refuge with Allah; for He Hears and Knows (all things).

201    Those who fear Allah, when a thought of evil from the Shaytaan assaults them, bring Allah to remembrance and, lo!  They see (aright)!

The only solution that we can think of which will eradicate this evil from one whom the shaytan has incited is the following:-

1) Always keep in a state of wudhu.

2) Strictly observe the obligatory prayers in time.

3) Read the Noble Quran everyday with the meaning in a language you can understand.

4) Always keep in the company of good righteous Muslim brothers at all

times.

5) Study the A'hadiths in a language you can understand.

6) Do good righteous deeds always. Speak the truth and keep your covenants.

7) Fast during Ramadhan. Pay your zakat properly. Fast as often as you can.

8) Make duaa regularly and request for the forgiveness, blessings and Mercy of Allah swt.

Brother if you can do the above rest assured that your inclinations towards homosexuality will InshaAllah get eradicated and you will slowly observe the change in your life.

May Allah swt make your trials easy for you and grant you strength to overcome your deficiency.

May Allah Subhanah have Mercy upon you and us and all the believers, and save us all from the evil inspirations of our avowed enemy, the Shaytaan.  Ameen.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 35 Surah Fatir verses 5-7:

5        O mankind!  Certainly the promise of Allah is true.  Let not then this present life deceive you, nor let the Shaytaan deceive you about Allah.

6        Verily Shaytaan is an enemy to you: so treat him as an enemy.  He only invites his adherents that they may become Companions of the Blazing Fire.

7        For those who reject Allah is a terrible Penalty: but for those who believe and work righteous deeds is Forgiveness, and a Magnificent Reward.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is only ones. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength..

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,
