Masturbation allowed if doctor recommends

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

May the almighty ALLAH give appropriate rewards for all those whom have put their efforts to create such a glorious platform to learn and discuss about our deen.

I am a male, 25 years old and my question is regarding masturbation. Till the last two months I stayed away from the evil sin masturbation by taking fasting and keeping my gaze and thoughts down. I am working outside my home country and while I was on a short leave unexpectedly I had my nikah done. After nikah, immediately I had to fly back to working place. The parents are planning reception and all other things after six months when I get a continuous leave. Whenever I call my wife I feel really excited and all the time mazi comes out. Since I know masturbation is haraam, I never masturbate. For some reason my testis became big and it started paining. When I met a doctor he advised me to masturbate and he said the paining and swelling may be due to over accumulation of semen. I rarely have night wetting. So dear respected Mufti, my question is “is there any haraam in performing masturbation in this scenario by the fear of my own sexual health? “. I would really appreciate the soonest response.

Thanks and best regards,

JAZAKKALLAH..

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

May Allah Subhanah reward you with the best of this world and the Hereafter for your kind comments of encouragement for our humble efforts in the propagation of the Truth.    We humbly hope,  beg,  and pray the Merciful Lord  accepts our humble and weak efforts,  forgives us our shortcomings,  and saves you, us,  and all the believers from the torment of the Hell Fire.  Ameen.

I am a male, 25 years old and my question is regarding masturbation.

The act of masturbation is prohibited in Islam, and must be avoided by the believers.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter24 Surah Noor verse 30:O Prophet, enjoin the believing men to restrain their gaze, and guard their private parts.   This is a more righteous way for them.   Allah has knowledge of whatever they do.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verses 200-201:

200    If a suggestion from Shaitaan assail thy (mind), seek refuge with Allah; for He Heareth and Knoweth (all things).

201    Those who fear Allah, when a thought of evil from Shaitaan assaults them, bring Allah to remembrance; when lo! they see (aright)!

As soon as one feels the desire, or the avowed enemy of man, the Shaitaan suggests the person to transgress any of the boundaries of Allah Subhanah;  the believers should immediately seek the refuge and protection of the All-Mighty Lord from the accursed Shaitaan by saying: “Aoodobillahe minas Shaitaan ar rajeem”.   If the person is sincere in seeking refuge and protection, Allah Subhanah will protect him from the assaults of Shaitaan.

Some other things the believers may do at such a stage is do the ‘wudu’, offer prayers, or recite the 113th and 114th Surahs of the Quran (Surah Falaq and Surah Naas) and seek protection from the accursed Shaitaan.

The long-term remedy for keeping the Shaitaan at bay, is to constantly remember Allah Subhanah, seek and stay in the company of the righteous, recite the Quran, read good Islamic Books, listen to good Islamic cassettes and lectures,  and strive to stay away from being in solitude.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verse 27: O ye children of Adam!  Let not Shaitaan seduce you in the same manner as he got your parents (Adam and Hawwa) out of the Garden, stripping them of their raiment to expose their shame: for he and his tribe watch you from a position where ye cannot see them: We made the evil ones friends (only) to those without faith.

Till the last two months I stayed away from the evil sin masturbation by taking fasting and keeping my gaze and thoughts down. I am working outside my home country and while I was on a short leave unexpectedly I had my nikah done. After nikah, immediately I had to fly back to working place. Brother, if madhi is released from your private parts it is proof of good health and contrary to what your physician has advised masturbation is definitely harmful to ones health.

Fiqh-us-Sunnah Fiqh 1.10

Wadi is a thick white secretion discharged (by some people) after urination. It is considered impure.  Aishah said, " Wadi comes out after urination. The person should wash the private parts and perform ablution.  It is not necessary to perform ghusl. This is related by Ibn al-Mundhir.  Ibn 'Abbas related that "mani” (ejaculation or full sexual discharge) requires ghusl.  As for “madhi” (prostatic fluid or initial sexual discharge) and ‘wadi’ they require a complete purification."  This is related by al-Athram.  Al-Baihaqi has it with the wording, "Concerning ‘madhi’ and ‘wadi’, he said, 'Wash your sexual organs and perform the same type of ablution as you perform for prayer."'

Other than urine, there are basically three types of discharges that are released from one’s private organs:

Wadi (a thick white secretion immediately after uniration by some people)

Madhi (a sort of slow release of lubricant just prior to a full sexual discharge)

Mani (a full sexual discharge)

If only ‘Wadi’ or ‘Madhi’ is released, one does not require a ‘ghusl’ or full bath to purify himself; he must wash his private parts and the part of his clothes or body where the ‘wadi’ or ‘madhi’ has touched, do the ‘wudu’, and he would be available for prayer.

But when the ‘Mani’ or a full sexual discharge is released, it would become obligatory for the person to perform a ‘ghusl’ or full bath to purify oneself before making oneself available for prayer.

Under no circumstances is one permitted to masturbate. If madhi is released owing to any sort of excitement, it is understood that you have no control of your emotions. One is required to wash the private parts and the clothes that have come into contact with the released madhi and perform wudhu and you would be in a state of purification.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is only ones.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
