Restrictions evidence in the month of safa

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear brother in Islam,

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmath Ullahi Wa Barakathahu,

Please provide authenticity of the below ASAP.

Jazak Allahu Qair,

The Month of Safar

It is a month from the Sunnah months. The Prophet s.a.w. named it Safar al-Khair. It is also a month Allah brings down His Wrath and Punishment to this world. Many of the past communities that disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger perished in this month. I remember Shaykh 'Adnan refraining travel on this month; he advised us not to leave our homes unless necessary. It is prescribed to keep to the following practices for protection in every day of this month. From Al-Futuhat al-Haqqaniyyah by Shaykh 'Adnan Kabbani:

1. Shahadatain (3 times).

2. Astaghfirullah (300 times).

3. Give Sadaqah daily for the sake of Allah Almighty with the intention to lift away afflictions and misfortunes. It is a good practice, as done by Grandshaykh 'Abdullah q.s., to make Qurban on the 27th day of Safar for the sake of Allah Almighty.

4. Recite each day Surah Al-Fil (7 times) and Ayat al-Kursi (7 times).

On the final Wednesday of Safar, keep to the following Adab:

1. Shahadatain (3 times).

2. Astaghfirullah (300 times).

3. Ayat al-Kursi (7 times).

4. Surah Al-Fil (7 times), reading them all upon oneself and for one's family.

It is most desired to refrain from going out of one's house on that day. If one should go out, keep to the Adab and make haste to return home when one's needs are met. Grandshaykh q.s. said: "On the final Wednesday of the month of Safar, 70,000 afflictions (bala') befall the world. The one who keeps to this Adab that we mentioned, he will be protected by Allah Almighty."

Answer:

Restrictions evidence in the month of safa

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Respected brother in Islam, we absolutely assure you that each and every statement quoted above has absolutely no substance or evidence from the Quran or the authentic and established Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws)…..thus the believers who fear Allah and the Last Day are neither to believe it, nor obey it, nor follow it in the least!!!

The onus of providing the proof is always on the one who makes a claim or a statement or a declaration!

The scholar or ‘Shaikh’ who made the above statements or declarations are the ones who should be asked to provide the evidence for their declarations from the Quran and the Sunnah….and we absolutely assure you there are none!!!

People in the days of ignorance before the advent of Islam believed the month of Safar carried bad omens….The Messenger of Allah (saws) dispensed all such baseless superstitions and imaginary fears from the hearts of the believers!

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.608         Narrated by Abu Huraira

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: ‘(There is) no 'Adwa’ (no contagious disease is conveyed without Allah's permission), nor is there any bad omen from birds, nor is there any Hamah, nor is there any bad omen in the month of Safar.’

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 2.635         Narrated by Ibn Abbas

The people (of the pre-Islamic period) used to think that to perform Umra during the months of Hajj was one of the major sins on earth. And also used to consider the month of Safar as a forbidden (i.e. sacred) month and they used to say, "When the wounds of the camel's back heal up (after they return from Hajj) and the signs of those wounds vanish and the month of Safar passes away then (at that time) Umra is permissible for the one who wishes to perform it." In the morning of the 4th of Dhul-Hijja, the Prophet and his companions reached Makkah, assuming Ihram for Hajj and he ordered his companions to make their intentions of the Ihram for 'Umra only (instead of Hajj) so they considered his order as something great and were puzzled, and said, "O Allah's Messenger (saws)! What kind (of finishing) of Ihram is allowed?" The Prophet (saws) replied, "Finish the Ihram completely like a non-Muhrim (you are allowed everything)."

Allah is our witness brother, any person who declares that the month of Safar carries any bad omen whatsoever is nothing but a confirmed liar!!!

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws),   one can be assured of never ever being misled;   but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
