Is bath prohibited on tuesdays.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalamu Aleikum Brother

Ramadan Kareem and May Allah give you more and more Knowledge and strength in this Holly month for your valuable work, Inshallah.

Brother, I have heard that our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) doesn’t have a bath on Tuesdays.  Is it true. If so any reasons for it.

Jazakallah.

Answer:

Is bath prohibited on tuesdays

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The believers, men and women, are at absolute liberty to have a bath whenever they will or please, at any time of the day or night, on any day of the week.

There is absolutely nothing in the authentic and established Sunnah which even remotely implies that the Messenger of Allah (saws) did not take a bath on Tuesdays, nor did he (saws) ever discourage the believers from taking a bath on Tuesdays or any other day of the week.  The believers are at absolute liberty to take a bath whenever they wish and please, or is convenient for them.

Respected sister in Islam, whoever informed you that the Messenger of Allah (saws) did not take a bath on Tuesdays, or that the Messenger of Allah (saws) discouraged the believers from taking a bath on Tuesdays should be asked to provide their evidence for their prohibition from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws).  If they are unable to provide such an evidence, and we absolutely assure you that there is none…..know with absolute conviction that the prohibition is a self-invented figment of their imagination and has absolutely nothing to do with the Guidance of Islam.

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws),   one can be assured of never ever being misled;   but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
