One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Dear Sir
My husband
wants me to look beautiful for him and he encourages me to go to a parlor to
remove the unwanted hair around the Eyebrow. But according the Islam we should
not remove the hair around the eyebrow. But our elders say that we should
listen to husband. So what shall I do?
Thanks &

Answer:
Obey husband or
Allah
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness
that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah
Nisaa verse 34:
34
Men are
the protectors and maintainers of women because Allah has
given the one more than the other, and because they support them from their
means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient and
guard in (the husband's) absence what Allah would have them guard (their
chastity, their husband’s honor, property, etc.)
Respected sister in Islam, it is not merely the ‘elders’
who say that a righteous believing wife should ‘listen’ to her husband….but
rather it is no less than Allah and His Messenger (saws) who have Guided and
Commanded the righteous believing wife to be devoutly obedient to all the
lawful commands of her husband!
Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3272 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah
When Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him)
was asked which woman was best he replied, "The one who pleases (her
husband) when he looks at her, obeys him when he gives a (lawful) command, and
does not go against his wishes regarding her person or property by doing
anything of which he disapproves."
Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 285 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah
The Prophet (saws) said: ‘Had it been
permissible that a person may prostrate himself before another, I would have
ordered that a wife should prostrate herself before her husband.’
Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 286 Narrated by Umm Salamah
The Prophet (saws) said: ‘If a woman dies
while her husband was pleased with her, she will enter
Your Question:

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3696 Narrated by An-Nawwas ibn Sam'an
Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "A
creature is not to be obeyed when it involves disobedience to the
Creator."
Respected sister in Islam, the same Allah and His
Messenger (saws) who have guided the believing wife to be devoutly obedient to
the lawful commands of her husband have absolutely and categorically forbidden
the believers to obey any command from anyone in creation if it involves
disobedience of the Lord Creator!
Regardless of whosoever it may happen to be…be it
one’s elders, or even one’s own parents or one’s husband, etc….if the command
or order they give is against the Command and Guidance of Allah and His
Messenger (saws)….that unlawful command of theirs will be rejected and not
obeyed in the least!
If one’s husband (or anyone else in creation)
commands one’s wife to bow down, or invoke, or worship a deity other than Allah
Subhanah….or they command their wife to stop wearing the ‘hijaab’….or they
command their wife to leave her obligatory fasts or prayers….or they command
their wife to lie, cheat, steal, kill, etc…..the wife is not to obey such
unlawful commands of her husband, if indeed she fears Allah and the Last Day;
for such commands are absolutely against the Commands and Guidance of her Lord
Creator!
Sahih
Al-Bukhari 7.815 Narrated by Abdullah
Allah has cursed
those women who practice tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and
those who remove their eye-brow hairs, and those who create a space
between their teeth artificially to look beautiful, and such women as change
the features created by Allah. Why then
should I not curse those whom the Prophet (saws) has cursed?
When the Messenger of Allah (saws) has invoked the curse
of Allah Subhanah on the women who remove or shape their eye-brow
hairs……absolutely regardless of how much one’s husband (or anyone or anything
else in creation!) desires it, the wife should categorically reject such an
unlawful command of her husband, if indeed she fears Allah and the Last
Day!
Obedience to one’s loved one’s command (be it one’s
elders, parents, or husband, etc.) is and should always be and remain
subservient to the Commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws). Always!
If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and
commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws),
one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any
other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be
assured of being led astray.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.

well wisher in Islam,
