Want to bury father in hometown
Mu' meneen Brothers
and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa
Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be
upon all of you)
One of our
brothers/sisters has asked this question:
i have
question that i don't know whom to ask.
my father is ill,
and has been ill of a fatal disease for more than a year now. we don't know
when he might leave us, however we stay in a gulf country and i have heard that
among bohri's they don't allow to take the body back to your native country.
that would mean that my father would have to burried here, something that we
don't want.
he is not in the
condition to travel now, and even if he was , it would cause too much pain to
him. so we don't want that.
i can not ask this
question to any one at home, becasue this is something that we don't want to
face, but it is happening and we can't stop it.
i would also like
to know some holy scriptures to calm us all down, as we are very agitated and
don't know what the future holds for us.
death is impending
but what we are going through is horrendous. we have started to question our
faith. please let me know what you think.
Regards

Answer:
In the name of Allah, We praise
Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none
can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.
We bear witness that there is no one (no idol,
no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam,
no dai, nobody!) worthy of
worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His
slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Allah Says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imraam verse 185: Every soul shall have a taste of death: and only on the Day of
Judgment shall you be paid your full recompense. Only he who is saved far from the fire and admitted to the garden
will have attained the object (of life): for the life of this world is but
goods and chattels of deception.
If
you can willingly submit to the above Aayah of the Most Merciful, you will find it easier to accept the Divine
Decrees that are ordained by Allah Subhanah;
for indeed, it is the right of
every soul that it will have to taste ‘death’!
It is not in the human being’s
domain to choose his place or time of death;
death will approach one at the precise time and place Allah Subhanah has
ordained for the person.
Allah Says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 31 Surah Luqman verse 34: Verily the knowledge of the Hour is with Allah
(alone). It is He Who sends down
rain, and He Who knows what is in the
wombs. Nor does anyone know what it is
that he will earn on the morrow: nor
does anyone know in what land he is to die. Verily with Allah is full knowledge and He is acquainted (with
all things).
There is absolutely no restriction or harm in
Shariah, if one wishes to bury their
loved ones in a place of their choice;
that is a decision the survivors of the deceased have to make for
themselves. It is not for the Bohras
or any other people to decide!
Your Statement: i would also like to know some holy scriptures to calm us all down, as we are very agitated and don't know what the future holds for us.
The
future will only hold for you and for the rest of mankind, what the Merciful Lord has Decreed. Thus the believers must keep their full
trust in their Lord and be grateful when times are good and healthy, and be patient in trying times. Whatever the situation a believer finds
himself in, he must be steadfast in the
Path of Allah Subhanah.
Allah Says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verse 51: Say: "Nothing will happen to us except what
Allah has Decreed for us: He is our protector": and on Allah let the
believers put their trust.
One of the best supplications to
make to the Merciful when one is in a severe trial, is to make the supplication that Prophet Yunus (a.s.) made to
Allah Subhanah at his times of affliction:
Allah Says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 21 Surah Anbiyaa verses 87-88:
87 And remember Zun-nun
(Yunus (a.s.)) when he departed in wrath:
he imagined that We had no power over him! But he cried through the depths of darkness "There is
no god but Thou: Glory to Thee: I was indeed wrong!"
88 So We listened to him:
and delivered him from distress: and thus do We deliver those who have faith.
And
if your beloved father is in a state where he can make dua, ask him to make the dua which was made by
Prophet Ayyub (a.s.) when he was afflicted with a terrible disease. Allah Subhanah heard his this supplication
and restored him back to full health.
Allah Says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 21 Surah Anbiyaa verses 83-84:
83 And (remember) Ayyub
when he cried to his Lord "Truly
distress has seized me, but Thou art
the Most Merciful of those that are merciful."
84 So We listened to him:
We removed the distress that was on him and We restored his people to him and
doubled their number as a Grace from Ourselves and a thing for commemoration
for all who serve Us.
Your Statement: death is impending but what we are going through is horrendous. we have started to question our faith.
Death
is a reality which is impending on each individual; for no soul is immune from this reality! The sooner we learn to accept it, the easier it makes it for man to prepare
for his eternal life after death.
If you could kindly clarify the
question which arise which makes you challenge your faith; we would be more than honored to address
those queries in light of the Quran and Sunnah.
May Allah Subhanah have Mercy on
your beloved father, and make his
future easy for him and may Allah Subhanah give the family the strength to bear
this trial with patience and steadfastness.
Allah Says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imraan verse 160: If Allah helps you none can overcome you: if He forsakes you who is there after that, that can help you? In Allah then, let
believers put their trust.
Whatever written of
Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever
of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows
Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
