One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalamualaikum Wr.Wb.

 

I need some advise on how to purify a stove which there is a reason to believed, that it had been used by a non muslim and it could had been stained with non halal food (pork).

Please advise.

Answer:

 

Cook food on stone pork

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

 

A ‘stove’ by definition is the fire or fire-source upon which food may be cooked….thus if someone happens to have cooked unlawful food (like pork, etc.) in their utensils on a stove, the stove itself does not become impure or stained, nor would lawful food cooked on this stove or fire-source become ‘haraam’ or unlawful for the believers.

 

But if there is reason to believe that the ‘stove’ is actually stained with the unlawful (pork, etc.), then the thorough cleansing and washing of the stove of the impurity would suffice before lawful food is cooked on the same stove.  And Allah Alone Knows Best.

 

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
