Assalamoe alaikoem. i want to know if it is farz to stand up while salatul salaam is being given to

the prophet.is it written somewhere in hadieth or quran or somewhere else that it must be

perform. assalamoe alaikoem

Answer:

 

Durood standing

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

 

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 5211  Narrated by Abu Umamah

The Messenger of Allah (saws) came out to us leaning on a stick. We stood up to show respect to him. The Prophet (saws) said: ‘Do not stand up as pagans do for showing respect to one another.’

 

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 4698        Narrated by Anas ibn Malik

No one was dearer to them (the noble companions (r.a.)) than Allah's Messenger (saws), but when they saw him (saws), they did not stand up because they knew his dislike of that.

 

The Messenger of Allah (saws) categorically prohibited his noble companions to stand up as a sign of showing respect when he himself entered in their presence!

 

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah Ahzaab verse 56:

Allah and His Angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him and salute him with all respect.

 

Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet (saws), "Do not turn my grave into a site of festivities, but send salutations to me for your salutations are raised to me wherever you might be." (Related by Abu Daw'ud)

 

Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-'As reported that he heard the Prophet (saws) saying, "If anyone invokes blessings upon me once, Allah will bestow blessings upon him ten times over."

Related by Muslim.

 

Ibn Masud reported that the Prophet (saws) said, "The people nearest to me on the Day of Judgment will be the ones most conscientious in invoking blessings upon me." Related by Tirmidhi.

 

Abu Hurairah reports that the Prophet (saws) said, "May the nose of the person in whose presence I am mentioned be covered with dirt if he does not invoke blessings upon me.”

Related by Tirmidhi.

 

Abu Dharr al-Ghaffari narrated that the Prophet (saws) said, 'The most miserly amongst people is the one who fails to invoke blessings upon me when my name is mentioned in his or her presence.’

 

Respected brother in Islam, we assure you that there is absolutely no obligation or requirement upon the believers to ‘stand-up’ when reciting the ‘durood’ supplication for their beloved Prophet (saws)…..the believers are guided and commanded to recite the ‘durood’ supplication upon the Prophet (saws) in their prayers, whenever his blessed name is mentioned in their presence, and whensoever they will or please, regardless of whether they happen to be standing, sitting, or lying down on their sides!

 

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
