Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
(May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Assalamu alikum wo rehmatullah
My question is about my niyyah.I made a neeyah before
birth of my son that I will make him Quran hafiz.According to my niyah I putted
him in madrassa in reyadh KSA since two years back and alhamdullilah he
hifz seven and half paras.may be you know here we do not have a good arrangement
of hifz qurran. First madrasa where I putted my son several times his
qaree(teacher) terrorized by terrible punishment & I change the madrasa but
unfortunately again same thing repeated here also then resulted that my son
afraid from people having bear like molvee and he feel burdenwith quran also.my
question is there any obligation on me to forcibly continue him to hifz quran
,like that I M afraid that by this imposing my opinion my son may afraid from
general quran and sunna and Islamic life.

Answer:
Intention to make
hafiz
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness
that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 76 Surah
Dhahr verses 5-12:
5 As to the Righteous they shall drink of a
Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur
6 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in
unstinted abundance.
7 They perform (or fulfill their) ‘nazar’ (vows) and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide.
8 And they feed for the love of Allah, the
indigent, the orphan, and the captive
9 (saying): "We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: No reward
do we desire from you nor thanks.
10 We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath
from the side of our Lord."
11 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day and will shed
over them a light of Beauty and a (Blissful) Joy.
12 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with
a Garden and (garments of) silk.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah
Baqarah verse 177:
177 It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces toward East or West;
but it is righteousness to believe in Allah, and the Last Day, and the Angels,
and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance out of love for
Him for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who
ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer and practice
regular charity; to fulfill the vows
(or contracts) which ye have made; and to be firm and patient in pain
(or suffering) and adversity and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the
Allah-fearing.
Respected brother in Islam, if you have made an intention
or vowed unto Allah Subhanah that you will make your son a ‘hafiz’ or memorizer
of the Glorious Quran, then it would only be piety and righteousness on your
part in the Sight of your Lord that you strive your best to fulfill your
intention.
Respected brother, if you have tried and strived to the
best of your ability to honor your intention of making your son a ‘hafiz’ of
the Glorious Quran, but you find that the circumstances are unfavorable, or you
find yourself forcing or imposing your child into fulfilling your intention to
the state whereby you fear that your son might be afraid or even hate the
Quran, the Sunnah, or the Islamic ‘way of life’, etc…..thus if for an extremely
valid reason you are reluctantly forced to forego the noble intention which you
had made unto your Lord, at least you will have an excuse to present in the
Presence of your Lord Most Majestic Most Supreme on that Inevitable Day of
Judgment.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah
Baqarah verse 286:
286 On no soul doth Allah place a burden greater than it can bear. It gets every good that it
earns, and it suffers every ill that it earns. (So O believers, pray): "O
Our Lord! Condemn us not if we forget or fall into error; O our Lord! Lay not
on us a burden like that which Thou did lay on those before us; O Our Lord! Lay
not on us a burden greater than we have strength to bear. Blot out our sins, and grant us
forgiveness. Have mercy on us. Thou art our Protector; help us against those
who stand against faith."
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah
Aaraaf verse 42:
42 But those who believe and work righteousness, no burden do We place on any soul but that which it can bear;
they will be companions of the Garden therein to dwell (for ever).
Respected brother in Islam, know with absolute conviction
that your Lord Creator is He Who Knows absolutely everything and is Well-Aware
of the condition of each in His creation; and He does not place a burden on any
soul more than it can bear. If you have
tried to the absolute best of your ability to fulfill the intention you made
unto your Lord, but situations or conditions were such that you were unable to
fulfill your intention…..then know with absolute conviction that your Lord is
Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.
Your brother and
well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
