I am in a complete shock because one she went ahead to the Miyasaheb without even informing me and second more because it is against Islam.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalam walaikum brother,

I would like your guidance for one of my problem in the light of holy Quran and the hadith of our beloved Prophet (pbuh).

I met a girl with the consent of our parents for marriage. We both liked each other and even our respective families approved of it. But before furthering the relation, my mother went to some Miyasaheb to see the faal of the girl from Quran. The result was not favourable, so she went to some other Miyasaheb and the result was same. Hence she now came to the conclusion that this girl is not suitable for me and there is no scope in furthering the relation.

I am in a complete shock because one she went ahead to the Miyasaheb without even informing me and second more because it is against Islam.

Now what should I do as she has convinced even other members of the family about it. I am all alone and depressed.

Allah hafiz

Answer:

Faal future reading

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The Glorious Quran was revealed by Allah Subhanah as a Book of Guidance and not as a recipe to foretell or find out what the future holds for one in regards to worldly or personal matters like business, commerce, marriage, etc.  Allah has bestowed man with intelligence and the power of reasoning, and one must use their bestowed intelligence, wisdom and experience in determining the path that is best suited to them in all such worldly matters.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 31 Surah Luqmaan verse 34:

34      Verily the knowledge of the Hour is with Allah (Alone).  It is He Who sends down rain and it is He (Alone)  Who knows what is in the wombs.  Nor does anyone know what it is that he will earn on the morrow: nor does anyone know in what land he is to die.  Verily with Allah is full knowledge and He is acquainted (with all things).

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 72 Surah Jinn verses 25-27:

25      Say (O Prophet (saws)): "I know not whether the (punishment) which ye are promised is near or whether my Lord will appoint for it a distant term.

26      "He (Alone) knows the Unseen, nor does He make any one acquainted with His Mysteries

27      Except (what He Wills to) a Messenger whom He has chosen.”

It is absolute misguidance and a manifestation of the abomination of ‘shirk’ to determine one’s future in the life of this world by randomly opening a page of any book, or even (Allah forbid) the Glorious Quran!   The people who open these so-called ‘faals’ and the people who solicit their future from such unscrupulous ‘moulvis’ and ‘scholars’, both are in manifest sin and will be held severely accountable in the Court of the Lord Most Majestic for making a complete mockery of the Guidance of Allah Subhanah!

Your Question: Now what should I do

Respected brother in Islam, with absolute wisdom and humility and above all with patience, you should humbly but firmly reason with your parents regarding the absolute falsehood and folly of the process of ‘faal’ or any type of such futile efforts at future-readings or predictions…..and with all earnestness, guide your parents to fear Allah Subhanah their Lord and Creator, and align their beliefs and their practices with the guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah of the Last and Final Messenger of Allah (saws).

If after your very best efforts, you find that your parents are still not willing to give their consent to your marriage regarding the girl of your choice, it would only be piety and righteousness on your part in the Sight of Allah that you decline that particular proposal and marry another girl whom both you and your parents approve of…for marriage is but a ‘Sunnah’ in Islam, to be dutiful and obey the lawful commands of one’s parents is an absolutely obligatory ‘Fard’.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 216:

216    ……But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you and that ye love a thing which is bad for you.  But Allah Knows and ye know not.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 19 (part):

It may be that ye dislike a thing and Allah brings about through it a great deal of good.

Respected brother, whatever happens or transpires in the process of your disagreement with your parents, you as a believer who sincerely fears Allah and the Last Day should make absolutely sure that you do not transgress the prescribed Boundaries of your Lord…..whatever they might choose to say or do, you make absolutely sure that you never utter even a word of dissent or harshness in your conversations with your parents, for that then would be an abomination in the Sight of the Lord.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 17 Surah Bani Israel verses 23-24:

Your Lord has enjoined the following: You should not worship anyone but Him Alone!  Treat your parents with great kindness;  if either or both of them attain old age, do not even say ‘uff’ to them;  nor rebuke them;  but speak to them kind words.  Treat them with humility and tenderness and pray, “O our Lord,  be merciful to them, just as they brought me up with kindness and affection in my childhood.”

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 4941        Narrated byAbu Umamah

A man said, "O Messenger of Allah (saws) what rights can parents demand from their children?"  He (saws) replied, "They are (or your relation with them will determine) your Paradise and your Hell!"

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 3.821         Narrated by Anas

The Prophet (saws) was asked about the ‘Grave Sins’, and He (saws) replied, "They are:--

(1 ) To join others in worship with Allah,

(2) To be undutiful to one's parents,

(3) To kill a person (which Allah has forbidden to kill)

(4) And to give a false witness."

Second only to absolute gravest sin and abomination of ‘shirk’ (associating others with Allah Subhanah) in gravity of sins in the Sight of Allah Subhanah is the disobedience to the lawful commands of one’s parents!

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 4928        Narrated by Abud Darda

When a man came to him and said, "I have a wife whom my mother commands me to divorce," he replied to him that he had heard Allah's Messenger (saws) say, "A parent is the best of the gates of Paradise; so if you wish, keep to the gate, or lose it."

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws),   one can be assured of never ever being misled;   but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
