Can one perform nikkah by themselves.
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
(May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
can we
read our nikah by our selves.? .and please tell me that in sigha and daimi
nikah both we can read or not?
(There may be some grammatical and spelling
errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from

Answer:
Can one perform
nikkah by themselves
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness
that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
The absolutely obligatory conditions for a marriage or
‘nikaah’ to be deemed lawful in the Sight of Shariah and of Allah Subhanah are:
If even one of the above four obligatory conditions of a
‘nikaah’ are not honored, the marriage will not be deemed lawful in the Sight
of Shariah Law and of Allah Subhanah.
Your
Question: can we read our nikah by our selves.?
The ‘nikaah’ or the Shariah rite which unites and bonds
two non-mehram members of the opposite sex in the sacred institution of
marriage in the Sight of Allah is not something which one does in secrecy or
privacy…but is a public affair and it is the preferred Sunnah of the Messenger
of Allah (saws) to announce the ‘nikaah’ publicly in the society one lives in
with a wedding banquet or ‘walima’.
One cannot perform the ‘nikaah’ by oneself; the absolute
minimum involvement of persons which would be required for a ‘nikaah’ to be
considered lawful in the Sight of Shariah Law and of Allah Subhanah would be as
follows:
We reiterate again that the evil of ‘zina’ (illegal sexual
intercourse) is something which is normally done in secrecy; the honorable and
sacred institution of ‘nikaah’ on the other hand is something declared publicly.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chatper 5 Surah
Maidah verse 5:
…..(Lawful unto you
in marriage) are (not only) chaste women who are believers but chaste women
among the People of the Book revealed before your time ,when ye give them their
due dowers and desire chastity not lewdness nor secret intrigues. If anyone rejects faith fruitless is his work
and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who are losers.
Your
Question: …..and please tell me that in sigha and daimi nikah both we can read
or not?
To the best of our limited knowledge, we have not come
across anything in the Quran or the authentic and established Sunnah of the
Messenger of Allah (saws), or any of the accepted books of ‘Fiqh’ (Islamic
Jurisprudence) which suggest terms like ‘sigha’ or ‘daimi’ nikaah….thus Allah
Alone Knows Best who invented these terms, and what exactly is implied by these
terms!
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.

well wisher in Islam,
