Answer:
Worship in ten days
of dhul hajja
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.
May Allah Subhanah reward you with the best of this world
and the Hereafter for your kind comments of encouragement for our humble
efforts in the propagation of the Truth.
If our humble and modest efforts have helped even one brother or sister
get closer to Allah and His Deen of Truth, then we would consider ourselves
indeed fortunate to have been given this opportunity by the Lord Most Merciful
to serve in His Cause. We hope, beg, and
pray the Merciful Lord accepts our humble and weak efforts, forgives us our
shortcomings, and saves you, us, and all the believers from the torment of the
Hell Fire. Ameen.
Your
Question: what are the Dos and Donts if one is sacrifing animal.
Beloved brother in Islam, sacrifice is only obligatory
upon a believer when one is himself/herself on the pilgrimage of Hajj. For all the other believers who are not
themselves on the Hajj pilgrimage, the sacrifice or ‘qurbani’ on the Day of
Adha is a preferred Sunnah, and thus voluntary and supererogatory.
If one who is not on the pilgrimage of Hajj offers a
sacrifice on the Day of Adha, he/she will receive a huge reward for their
worship from their Lord Most Gracious; and if for any reason one does not offer
a sacrifice, there is absolutely no obligation or sin upon them. The most that can be said of one who is not a
pilgrim and does not offer a sacrifice on the Day of Adha is that he/she missed
a great opportunity to earn huge rewards from Allah Subhanah.
The only condition for one who is not a pilgrim and wishes
to fulfill the Sunnah and offer a voluntary sacrifice on the Day of Adha is
that he/she should purchase the animal with their halaal and lawfully earned
wealth; other than that there is absolutely no conditions for one who is not a
pilgrim and wishes to offer a sacrifice on the blessed Day of Adha.
Sahih Muslim Hadith 4836 Narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah
Allah's Messenger (saws) said: ‘Sacrifice
only a grown-up animal, unless it is difficult for you, in which case sacrifice
a ram (of even less than a year, but more than six months' age).’
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.476 Narrated by Salama bin Al Aqua
The Prophet (saws) said: “ (Of the Sacrifice)
eat of it, and feed of it to
others, and store of it.”
Fiqh-us-Sunnah Fiqh 5.115
A person offering a sacrifice may consume, without
any restrictions, any amount of meat he may desire. He may likewise give
away, or offer in charity any amount he
may wish. Some scholars say that one may eat half, and give away the other half in charity, while others say that the meat be divided into
three parts. Of these one may keep a part, distribute a part, and give in
charity the third part.
The guidance of the Messenger of Allah (saws) was to
sacrifice an animal who is at least six months of age and the Sunnah of the
Messenger of Allah (saws) was to consume a part of the sacrificial meat,
distribute a part of it among his companions,
and give a part of it to the poor and needy.
If one wishes, one
may eat all or part of it, or distribute
all or part of it, or give to the poor
all or part of it. There is absolutely
no restriction on how one should consume the sacrificial meat, but it would be best to follow the Sunnah of
the Messenger of Allah (saws) and eat some oneself, distribute some, and give some to the poor
and needy.
Your Question:
then what are the difference if one sacrifice sheep or give a share in cow.
Fiqh-us-Sunnah Fiqh 5.110a
Topic: The minimum number of animals to be
sacrificed
One may sacrifice any number of animal one
chooses. Hadrat Umar (r.a.) reported that the Messenger of Allah (saws) said:
‘Sacrifice animals for Allah loves sacrifice.’ The Prophet (saws) once offered
one hundred camels in voluntary sacrifice for the Pleasure of Allah. The
minimum number of animals a person is obligated to sacrifice is one sheep, or
one-seventh portion of a camel or a cow. A camel or a cow may be sacrificed on
behalf of seven people. Jabir said: "We performed Hajj with the Prophet
(saws), and we slaughtered a camel for seven persons, and a cow for seven
persons." This was reported by Ahmad and Muslim.
There is absolutely no maximum to the number of animals
one may sacrifice for the Pleasure of Allah Subhanah, but the minimum is one
sheep for oneself and one’s family.
Sahih Muslim Hadith
4845 Narrated by Aisha
Allah's Messenger (saws)
commanded that a ram with black legs, black belly and black (circles) round the
eyes should be brought to him, so that he should sacrifice it. He (saws) said to Aisha: “Give me the large
knife”, and then said: “Sharpen it on a stone.” She did that. He (saws) then
took it (the knife) and then the ram; he placed it on the ground and then
sacrificed it, saying: “In the name of Allah, O Allah, accept (this sacrifice)
on behalf of Muhammad, and the family of Muhammad, and the Ummah of
Muhammad".
Sunan of Abu-Dawood
Hadith 2789 Narrated by Jabir ibn
Abdullah
The Prophet (saws)
sacrificed two horned rams which were white with black markings and had been
castrated. When he made them face the qiblah, he said: “I have turned my face
towards Him Who created the heavens and the earth, following Abraham's
religion, the true in faith, and I am not one of the polytheists. My prayer, and my service of sacrifice, my
life and my death are all for Allah, the Lord of the Universe, Who has no
partner. That is what I was commanded to do, and I am one of the Muslims. O
Allah it comes from Thee and is given to Thee from Muhammad and his Ummah. In
the name of Allah, and Allah is Most Great. He then made sacrifice.”
If the Lord Most High has provided one with abundance, and
if one wishes and pleases to offer more than one animal as sacrifice for
themselves and their family, one would have their appropriate reward for their
sacrifice; alternatively if one wills and pleases to offer only one animal as
sacrifice for the whole family that too would suffice to fulfill the Sunnah.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 22 Surah
Hajj verses 36-37:
36 The sacrificial camels we have made for you as among the Symbols
from Allah: in them is (much) good for you: then pronounce the name of Allah
over them as they line up (for sacrifice): when they are down on their sides
(after slaughter) eat ye thereof, and feed such as (beg not but) live in
contentment, and such as beg with due humility: thus have we made animals
subject to you that ye may be grateful.
37 It is not their meat nor their blood that reaches Allah: it is your
piety that reaches Him: He has thus made them subject
to you that ye may glorify Allah for His guidance to you: and proclaim the Good
News to all who do right.
Your Question:
then cutting of hair and nails who intend to give qurbani.
Sahih Muslim Hadith 4869 Narrated by Umm Salamah
Allah's Messenger (saws) said: ‘When any one
of you intending to sacrifice the animal enters in the month (of Dhul-Hijjah)
he should not get his hair or nails touched (cut).’
There is indeed a mention in the authentic Sunnah that one
who intends to offer a sacrifice during the ‘Eid-ul-Adha’ should not cut their
hair or their nails from the beginning of the month of Dhul-Hijjah until the
sacrifice is completed.
There is a difference of opinion amongst the scholars and
jurist in Islam regarding the implications of this guidance. Some amongst the scholars, including Imam
Ibn-Taimiyaah, are of the opinion that by the statement: ‘When any one of you intending to sacrifice the animal
enters in the month (of Dhul-Hijjah)…..’ does not imply to all the
believers in general, but implies only to those believers who wish to offer the
Hajj pilgrimage, and it is they who should abstain from cutting their hair or
their nails.
Other scholars are of the opinion that the wordings of the
guidance of the Messenger of Allah (saws) are absolutely clear and in their
opinion any believer who, regardless of whether or not he/she is performing the
Hajj pilgrimage, intends to offer a sacrifice during the ‘Eid-al-Adha’, all of
them should abstain from cutting their hair and their nails from the beginning
of the month of Dhul-Hijjah until the sacrifice is completed.
Although it would not be prudent or wise to discount or
overrule the opinion of a scholar of the stature of Imam Ibn-Taimiyaah, in our
humble opinion, it would be safest for all the believers who intend to offer a
sacrifice during the ‘Eid-al-Adha’, regardless of whether they intend to
perform the Hajj pilgrimage or not, to abstain from cutting their hair or their
nails from the beginning of the month of Dhul-Hijjah until the sacrifice is
completed on the Day of Eid. And Allah Alone Knows Best.
Your
Question: then fasting days during these month and its benifits.
Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 2431
Hunaydah ibn Khalid narrated from his wife on
the authority of one of the wives of the Prophet (saws) who said: ‘The Messenger
of Allah (saws) used to fast the first nine days of Dhul-Hijjah.’
Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 2419 Narrated by Abu Qatadah
The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: ‘The
observance of three days' fast every month and of one Ramadan to the other
(i.e. the fast of Ramadan every year) is (equivalent to) a perpetual fast. I
seek from Allah that fasting on the day of Arafah may atone for the sins of the
preceding and the coming year,’
For those not on the actual Hajj pilgrimage, it is the
preferred Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws) to observe voluntary fasts
during the first nine days of the blessed month of Dhul-Hijjah, especially the
day of Arafah (9th of Dhul-Hijjah).
Sahih Muslim Hadith
2534 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah
The Messenger of
Allah (saws) forbade to observe fast on these two days. Id al-Adha and Id al-Fitr.
Your
Question: ….then any special duwas or salah or any kind of ibadah during these
10 days .
Fiqh-us-Sunnah
Fiqh 2.154
Topic: The excellence of good deeds in the
first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah
Ibn Abbas (r.a.) reports that the Prophet
(saws) said: "No good deeds done on other days are superior to those done
on these days [meaning the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah]." The companions
asked: "O Messenger of Allah (saws), not even jihad in the way of
Allah?" He said: "Not even jihad, save for the man who puts his life
and wealth in danger [for Allah's Sake] and returns with neither of them."
(Related by Bukhari and Tirmidhi)
Ahmad and at-Tabarani record from Ibn Umar
(r.a.) that the Messenger of Allah said: "There is no day more honorable
in Allah's Sight and no acts more beloved therein to Allah than those in these
ten days. So say ‘tahleel’ ["There is no God but Allah"], ‘takbir’
[Allah is The Greatest] and ‘tahmeed’ ["All praise is due to Allah"]
a lot [on those days]."
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.
