Answer:

When prohibited sex with wife

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 187:

187    Permitted to you on the night of the fasts is the approach to your wives (for intercourse).  They are your garments.  And ye are their garments.  Allah Knows what ye used to do secretly among yourselves; but He turned to you and forgave you; so now associate with them and seek what Allah hath ordained for you; and eat and drink until the white thread of dawn appear to you distinct from its black thread; then complete your fast till the night appears; but do not associate with your wives (for intercourse) while ye are in retreat in the mosques.  Those are limits (set by) Allah; approach not nigh thereto.  Thus doth Allah make clear His signs to men that they may learn self-restraint.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 222:

222    They ask thee concerning women's courses (menstruation).  Say: They are a hurt and a pollution; so keep away from women in their courses and do not approach them (for intercourse) until they are clean.  But when they have purified themselves ye may approach them in any manner time or place ordained for you by Allah.  For Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean.

The only times it is prohibited in Islam for one to enjoy conjugal relations with their wives in the sacred bond of marriage in Islam are:

  1. During the wife’s periods of menstruation (both normal and post-child birth).
  2. During the fasting hours of Ramadan.
  3. When one is engaged in the worship of ‘itikaaf’ (seclusion) during Ramadan.
  4. When one is in the state of ‘ehraam’ and pilgrimage of Umrah and Hajj until after its completion.

Other than the above four listed restrictions, it is absolutely lawful for the husband and the wife bonded in the sacred institution of marriage to enjoy conjugal relations with each other any time they may desire and please.

Allah is our witness brother, there is absolutely nothing in the Glorious Quran or the authentic and established Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws) which prohibits or even discourages conjugal relations between a husband and wife in Islam during the 15th (or any other date) of every month, or at the beginning or end of one’s travels, or during the time of ‘adhaan’, etc.  Other than the above four listed prohibitions, one is at absolute liberty to enjoy conjugal relations with their wife any time and any place their hearts desire.

If one declares that it is unlawful for a married couple to enjoy conjugal relations with each other at any other time than the four listed above, they should be asked to prove their claim from the Quran and the Sunnah; for it is the exclusive right of Allah and His Messenger (saws) Alone to declare what is lawful and what is unlawful.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 16 Surah Nahl verse 116:

116    But say not for any false thing that your tongues may put forth "This is lawful and this is forbidden" so as to ascribe false things to Allah.  For those who ascribe false things to Allah will never prosper.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 10 Surah Yunus verse 17:

Who can be a greater sinner than the one who himself forges a lie and ascribes it to Allah, or falsifies His real Revelations?   Indeed, the criminals can never attain true success.

Just as it is an absolute abomination and a grave sin in the Sight of Allah to make lawful something which Allah and His Messenger (saws) have declared ‘haraam’ (flesh of swine, gambling, intoxicants, ‘fahisha’, etc.), it is equally an abomination and a grave sin in the Sight of Allah Subhanah to declare something ‘haraam’ when Allah and His Messenger (saws) have not declared it as unlawful!!!

Beloved brother, we assure you in the Blessed Name of Allah Subhanah, that other than the four restrictions listed above, it is absolutely lawful for a husband and a wife bonded in the sacred institution of marriage to enjoy conjugal relations with each other whenever they will and please.

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws),   one can be assured of never ever being misled;   but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
