My first question for today is that my father works in a huge superstore wich is known as tesco`s now i think we all know that tesco`s do sell alcohol but my father works in another section just say bread nad sweets and chocolate he therefore never goes near the alcohol isle but is he`s salary halaal like i said before he hardly goes near the alcoholic isle but that super store sells ti although my father is helping out in another part of tesco`s so is it halaal or haraam? i have also heard that a few products wich are sold in tesco`s are helping israel for war against palestine so should my father carry on working there because he is in his late 40`s and he needs that money to support us because myself im only 13. What can my father do?

Answer:

Working in superstore which sells alcohol

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His  forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol,  no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

If your father is working in a section which does not sell alcohol or any haraam products,  there is absolutely no harm in his working in the superstore and his earning will be considered halaal in the sight of Shariah.

But if he wants to truly satisfy his heart,  and make absolutely sure that his earning is halaal,  he may seek a job in another legal place,  and upon finding that job resign from his present job.   Allah Subhanah will reward him generously out of His Bounty and Grace for striving to obey His Guidance and staying absolutely clear of the haraam.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
