One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Es Selamu Alikoum Jazak Allah Khairan so much by answer‎n our quest‎ons in this forum.its really helpful alhamdulillah .may Allah reward u for it.i m 19 yrs old sister.i have sincere faith and realiance on Allah,the most merciful and the ONE has power on everyth‎ng! my wish is to get taller i know its scientifically not possible cos i already had my puberty but i believe if i do supplicate for it Allah will give me it!cos when He decides for sth to happen it definitely happens.i have a great hope in my heart. but on the other way i m also thank ful to HIM of what HE has given me.i dont want to seem as if i m not thank ful.Allah knows whats in my heart. do u think is it true if i do supplicate for it? do u think we should not make dua for impossible things in a scientific way?may Allah bless u.pls answer me soon.

Answer:

 

Can one make dua to allah to increase height?

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol,  no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

 

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 82 Surah Infitaar verses 6-8:

6        O man!  What has seduced thee from thy Lord,  Most Beneficent?

7        Him,  Who created thee.  Fashioned thee in due proportion,  and gave thee a just bias;

8        In whatever Form He Wills,  does He put thee together.

 

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imraan verses 5-6:

5        From Allah verily nothing is hidden on earth or in the heavens.

6        He it is Who shapes you in the wombs,  as He pleases.  There is no god but He;  The Exalted in Might,  The Wise.

 

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 32:And do not covet what Allah has given some of you more than others.   The men shall have their due share according to what they have earned,  and the women shall have their share according to what they have earned.   So pray to Allah for His Bounty;  most surely Allah has perfect knowledge of everything.

 

Beloved sister in Islam,  it is Allah Subhanah Who has created mankind,  fashioned each one of them in due proportion according to His Will, and in whatever form He Pleased,  He shaped us.   Thus,  as a believer,  we must accept and be pleased with whatever is pleasing to our Merciful Lord and Creator.  

 

If one is short,  or tall,  or fair-skinned,  or dark-skinned,  or bald,  or with curly hair,  etc.,  he should be pleased with the form that his Merciful Lord was Pleased to create him in.   It does not behove a believer to be unsatisfied with the creation that was pleasing to His Creator.  

 

Thus one should look above these petty issues of height and color,  and beg the Majestic and Magnanimous Lord for beneficial things like Emaan,  Faith,  Knowledge,  Righteous wife/husband and children,  good character,  and always seek His Good Pleasure and the ultimate and everlasting reward of Paradise.  

 

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
