(May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
I wish may Allah Gaffroor Rahim give all of you reward for this beautiful,
valuable &
knowledgeable
site.
I am
30 years old and having a memory problem which causing in my professional &
personal life, I am not a regular reader of Quran but everyday in the morning
time reading all some Ayyats, Aytal Qursi.
In the
childhood I used to remember lots of ayyats, surah, kalmats etc but now
everything is vanished and only few surah is left in my brain.
Is there a way to increase memory power.

Answer:
How to retain Quran
in Memory
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.
May Allah Subhanah reward you with the best of this world
and the Hereafter for your kind comments of encouragement for our humble
efforts in the propagation of the Truth.
If our humble and modest efforts have helped even one brother or sister
get closer to Allah and His Deen of Truth, then we would consider ourselves
indeed fortunate to have been given this opportunity by the Lord Most Merciful
to serve in His Cause. We hope, beg, and
pray the Merciful Lord accepts our humble and weak efforts, forgives us our
shortcomings, and saves you, us, and all the believers from the torment of the
Hell Fire. Ameen.

Sahih
Al-Bukhari Hadith 6.552 Narrated
by Abu Musa
The Prophet (saws) said, "Keep on
reciting the Quran, for by Him in Whose Hand my life is (Allah Subahnah), the
Quran runs away (or is forgotten) faster than camels that are released from
their tying ropes."
Dear and beloved brother, the only long term remedy to
retain the portions of the Glorious Quran one has secured to one’s memory is to
constantly and continuously strive to revise, study, and re-study the memorized
Surahs as often as one possibly can……for the Messenger of Allah (saws) warned
the believers that the Glorious Quran is forgotten from memory faster than the
‘camels which are released from their tying ropes!’
The Messenger of Allah (saws) would never tire of making
supplications unto His Lord Most Gracious to increase him in knowledge……and it
would only befit the believers to do the same…
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 20 Surah Ta
Haa verse 114:
114 High above all is Allah, The King, The Truth! Be not in haste with
the Qur'an before its revelation to thee (O Prophet (saws)) is completed, but
say "O my Lord! Increase me in knowledge."
Upon waking up
from his sleep, the Prophet (saws) would make this supplication: "There is
no God but Thee, Glory be to Thee, I seek forgiveness from You for my sins, and
I ask for your mercy. O Allah, increase my knowledge and let my
heart not swerve after You have guided me, and bestow mercy upon me from Thyself.
All praise be to Allah who has given us back life after our death and unto Him
is the resurrection."
Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 2482 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah
Allah's Messenger (saws) used to supplicate
thus: "O Allah, grant me benefit in what Thou hast taught me, teach
me what will benefit me, and increase my knowledge. Praise be to Allah
in all circumstances. I seek refuge in Allah from the state of those who go to
Hell."
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.
