Answer:
Hadith for funeral
Prayer
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.
There are several and umpteen hadiths in the authentic and
established records of Sunnah that the Messenger of Allah (saws) led and prayed
the funeral prayers in congregation of the believing deceased in preparation
for their burial; and the Messenger of Allah (saws) himself used to and he
(saws) time and again exhorted the believers to make sincere supplications unto
their Lord to have mercy on their deceased.
There are just so many hadiths regarding the incidents where the
Messenger of Allah (saws) offered the funeral prayers and made supplications
for the believers amongst the deceased, that it would be almost impossible to
list or quote all of them!
Your
Question: is there any authentic hadith prophet Mohamed did prayer for the
buried one?
Perhaps you wish to ask regarding the availability of any
hadith whereby the Messenger of Allah (saws) offered the funeral prayer of
someone in ‘absentia’. To the best of
our knowledge there is only instance and record in the authentic and
established Sunnah whereby the Messenger of Allah (saws) led the believers in
offering the funeral prayers of one who had died and was buried in a distant
land….and that funeral prayer was for Negus (or Najjashi), the pious King of
Ethiopia.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 5.220 Narrated by Abu Huraira
Allah's Messenger (saws) informed them (i.e.
his companions) of the death of Negus, the king of
Beloved brother, if clarification of the ‘funeral prayer
in abstentia’ is not your question, or if you require the authentic hadiths or
evidence for the general funeral prayers and the supplications which the
Prophet (saws) made for the deceased believers, we would be more than willing
to send you a list of such quotations. Alternatively you could rephrase or clarify
what exactly you wish to inquire about regarding the funeral prayers, and we
would strive to the best of our ability to address your query in light of the guidance
of the Quran and the Sunnah, Insha Allah.
