Answer:

Cracking of finger joints

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri says: "I entered the mosque with the Messenger of Allah (saws) while a man was sitting in the middle of the mosque with his fingers intertwined. The Messenger of Allah (saws) motioned to him but the man did not notice or understand him. The Messenger of Allah (saws) turned and said: 'If one of you is in the mosque, he should not intertwine his fingers as intertwining of the fingers is from the Shaytaan, and you are in the prayer while you are in the mosque until you leave it."' Related by Ahmad.

Although the Messenger of Allah (saws) forbade the believers to ‘interwine’ their fingers when they attend the mosques, to the best of our knowledge there is no specific mention in the authentic and established Sunnah whereby the Messenger of Allah (saws) ever forbade or even disapproved or discouraged the believers from cracking their finger-joints, if indeed that is what one wishes to do.  And Allah Alone Knows Best.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
