Answer:
Waste health and
good
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 8.421 Narrated by Ibn Abbas
The Prophet (saws) said, "There are two
blessings which many people lose: (They are) health and free time for doing
good."
‘Health’ and ‘free time’ are two favors which very few
have at the same time; for when one is young and healthy, one is busy in
forming and maintaining and providing for their family and has no free-time to
do deeds in the Cause of Allah Subhanah….but when one gets old and one’s
children have grown up and all the duties and responsibilities of the family/society
have been accomplished, inevitably ill-health comes as a package with old
age. One may have ample free-time during
this period of one’s life, but one’s ill-health prevents one from serving the
Cause of Allah as one would like.
When one is bestowed with good health from their Lord and
has free time, instead of taking advantage of their health and ‘investing’
their free time in the doing of good righteous deeds that will bring them
rewards and salvation in the life Hereafter, most people ‘waste’ and ‘kill’ instead
of ‘investing’ their free time by either doing useless deeds, or even evil
deeds.
Thus the Messenger of Allah (saws) guided and reminded the
believers that if one has been blessed with both or either one of these two
supreme favors, health and free time, one should not ‘waste’ them in doing
useless deeds which bring neither good to oneself, nor one’s loved one’s, nor
to their fellow man…..but one who has been blessed with both or either one of
these two favors should strive their utmost to do good righteous deeds which
will bring benefit to him in the life Hereafter.
The basic wisdom behind the guidance of the Messenger of
Allah (saws) was to remind and guide the believers that neither health nor free
time will last forever; thus if one finds oneself blessed with both or either
one of these favors, they should grab the opportunity and ‘invest’ these favors
in doing good deeds rather than ‘waste’ them by doing useless deeds.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.

well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
