Could you kindly inform me what prayer or Dua I should make to God in order that they become religiously.
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
(May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
My
mother has two elder and two younger brothers. The younger two are regular in
prayer but have done wrong things like misappropriation, mismanagement of
funds, assets, properties etc. for their own benefits. The elder two from a
very young age are not used to the habit of prayer.
I
don`t think they even do the Juma prayer on Friday. Both of them have crossed
the age of 60 and now it will be very difficult to form the habit of at least
prayer let alone other ibaadaths. I really feel very sorry for both of them.
Could you kindly inform me what prayer or Dua I should make to God in order
that they become religiously conscious and be regular in prayer, at least
realizing now where they have been standing so far. It is not too late even now
for them to repent of the past if I am not wrong.
Reply
is highly appreciated. Thanks

Answer:
Dua to make pious
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Your Question: Could
you kindly inform me what prayer or Dua I should make to God in order that they
become religiously conscious…..
Dear and Beloved Brother in Islam, if any ‘tasbih’, or
‘wazifah’, or the chanting of a few phrases in itself would have had the power
to make someone pious or righteous, then the Messenger of Allah (saws) would
have performed the dua or recited a few phrases on the enemies of Islam like Abu
Jahl and Abu Lahab and converted them into righteous human beings!!!
If one desires to change the condition of one’s loved
ones, then two actions are required:
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 66 Surah
Tahreem verse 6:
O you who have believed, save yourselves and your families from a Fire
whose fuel shall be men and stones; over
which shall be appointed fierce and stern angels, who never disobey Allah’s Command, and they only do as they are commanded!
If your loved ones persistent in transgressing the bounds
of their Lord, with extreme patience and wisdom strive to instill the fear of
Allah into them and advice them to abstain from everything which would bring
about the Wrath and Anger of Allah Subhanah on them on the Inevitable Day of
Judgment.
Along with sincere effort and striving to bring your loved
one to the Straight Path, you must, in all humility, fear, awe, and hope,
constantly supplicate the Lord Merciful to have mercy on them, and save them from
the evil temptations of her avowed enemy, the accursed Shaitaan.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 186:
And if My servants ask
you, O Prophet, concerning Me, tell them that I am quite near to them. I hear and answer the prayer of the
suppliant, when he calls on Me. So let them respond to My call and believe in
Me. (Convey this to them), perhaps they may be guided aright!
Abu Hurairah
reported, "The Prophet (saws) said, "Nothing is more dear to Allah
than one's supplication to Him.''
Ibn Mas'ud reported
that the Prophet (saws), said, "If any servant of Allah afflicted with
distress or grief makes this supplication, his supplication will be
accepted: 'O Allah, I am Your servant,
son of Your servant, son of your maidservant.
My forehead is in Your hand.
Your command conceming me prevails, and Your decision concerning me is
just. I call upon You by every one of
the beautiful names by which You have described Yourself, or which You have
revealed in Your book, or have taught anyone of Your creatures, or which You
have chosen to keep in the knowledge of the unseen with You, to make the Qur'an
the delight of my heart, the light of my breast, and remover of my griefs,
sorrows, and afflictions'." A supplication in these words will be
answered. Allah will remove one's
affliction and replace it with joy and happiness.
Salman reported
that the Prophet (saws), said, "Your Lord, the Blessed and the Exalted
One, is Modest and Generous, and He loathes to turn away His servant
empty-handed when he raises his hands to Him in supplication."
Narrated by Ahmad and Ibn Hibban.
Abdallah b. 'Umar
reported that the Prophet (saws) said, "Hearts are like vessels, some more
attentive and capacious than others. When you supplicate Allah you should be
certain of being answered, and know that Allah does not answer a supplication
that comes from a careless and inattentive heart."
Narrated by Ahmad
Al-Tirmidhi Hadith
2248 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah
Allah's Messenger
(saws) said, "There are three whose supplication is not rejected: one who has just ended a fast, a just imam,
and one who has been wronged,
whose supplication is raised by Allah above the clouds and for which the
gates of Heaven are opened. The Lord
says, 'I swear by My might that I shall certainly help you, though it be after
some time.'"
Abu Hurairah
reported that the Prophet (saws) said, "Your supplication will be answered
if you are not impatient, and if you do not say, 'I supplicated but my
supplication was not heard'."
Your Question: It is
not too late even now for them to repent of the past if I am not wrong.
In His Absolute and Infinite Mercy, the Lord Most Merciful
has left open the doors of ‘taubah’ and ‘repentance’ for all amongst His slaves
until one meets with their appointment of death, after which these doors of
‘taubah’ are closed; thus as long as one is alive and not confronted with their
appointment of death, it is never too late to turn back unto their Lord in
‘taubah’ seeking sincere forgiveness for their past sins….it is expected that
they will find their Lord Forgiving and Merciful.
Whatever deeds one might have done, if one turns to Allah
Subhanah in sincere Taubah and seeks forgiveness, Allah Subhanah has promised in the Holy Quran
that He will forgive all the sins of such a believer, even if one has committed the gravest sin of
all: ‘Shirk’! Not only that, our Lord is so Merciful and Generous, that He not only will forgive all the sins of
the believer, He will change his evil deeds done into good deeds!
The conditions or ways to seek sincere Taubah or
Repentance from the Merciful Lord are:
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 39 Surah
Zumur verses 53-54:
(O Prophet) say: “O My servants who have wronged
their own souls….Do not despair of Allah’s Mercy! Surely,
Allah forgives all sins.
He indeed is the All Forgiving,
All Merciful. Return to
your Lord and submit to Him before the scourge overtakes you; for then you may get no help from anywhere.”
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale
Imraan verse 135-136:
Allah likes such good people very much,
who, if ever they commit a base deed or
wrong their own soul by the commission of a sin, remember Allah instantly, and ask for forgiveness from Him for their
shortcomings. For who, but Allah,
can forgive sins? (And Allah
loves those) who do not knowingly persist in the wrongs they did. These will be rewarded with forgiveness from
Allah, and with Gardens beneath which
canals flow, and they will reside
therein forever! How excellent is the
reward of those who do good deeds!
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 25 Surah
Furqaan verses 63-71:
The (true) servants of the Merciful are those
who walk humbly on the earth. When the ignorant
people behave insolently towards them,
they say, “Peace to you”; (And
those) who pass their nights in prostrating themselves and standing before
their Lord and pray, “O our Lord, save
us from the torment of Hell, for its
torment is killing! It is an evil
abode, and an evil resting place”. (And those) who, when they spend are neither extravagant, nor miserly,
but keep the golden mean between the two extremes. (And those) who do not invoke any god but
Allah Alone, nor kill a soul unjustly, which Allah has forbidden, nor commit adultery… He who does this shall
be punished for his sin, and his torment
shall be doubled on the Day of Resurrection,
and he shall abide in a state of ignominy; EXCEPT THE ONE WHO MAY HAVE REPENTED (AFTER
THOSE SINS), AND HAVE BELIEVED AND DONE
RIGHTEOUS DEEDS. For then, Allah will change his evil deeds into good
deeds, and He is very Forgiving and
Merciful. In fact, one who repents and does righteous
deeds, returns to Allah as one rightly
should!
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah
Anaam verse 54:
When those come to you who believe in Our
Signs, say: "Peace be on you! Your Lord had inscribed for Himself (the rule
of) Mercy. Verily if any of you did evil
in ignorance, and thereafter repented
and amended (his conduct), Lo! He is
Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 2357 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud
Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "He who
repents of a sin is like him who has committed no sin."
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to
Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only
Source of Strength.

well wisher in Islam,
