my daughters name is omayma humayun,before her birth i dreamed that my father in law gave me a baby girl and said its your daughter MUNTAHA, but i only considerd it a dream and we named her omayma but im still confused about her name and i also want to know the right spellings and pronounciation of OMAYMA,before the birth of my younger son i dreamed of having a son and again got an indication that if i name him ABDUR REHMAN he will be a good muslim and benificient for us and islam ,his dream was with so strong feelings so we named him ABDUR REHMAN HARIS, we added haris by the wish of my mother inlaw. * i want to know the meaning of haris,*is this a good combination of Abdur Rehman Haris,*also the meaning and spellings and right pronounciation of OMAYMA,

Meaning name Omayma

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

 

Your Question: i want to know the meaning of haris,

If spelt with the Arabic alphabet ‘seen’ at the end, the term ‘Haris’ would mean one who is vigilant, or guardian or a protector.

 

If spelt with the Arabic alphabet ‘tha’ at the end, the term ‘Harith’ would mean one who ploughs or tills the land.  The Messenger of Allah (saws) used to love this name and would recommend the believers to assign the name ‘Harith’ to their child.

‘Abdur-Rahmaan’ would mean a ‘slave-servant of the Most Merciful’; and the assigning of ‘Abdur-Rahmaan Haris’ would be considered a perfectly acceptable and a beautiful name in Islam.

Although it is always difficult to exactly transliterate and pronounce a term or name from one language to another, the closest transliteration and nearest to its pronunciation would be to spell the term as ‘Umaymah’; and the literal meaning of the Arabic term ‘Umaymah’ would be a ‘young mother’.
