Answer:
Zakat Issues
In the name of Allah, We praise
Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none
can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.
We bear witness that there is no one (no idol,
no person, no grave, no
prophet, no imam, no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Your question: IS ZAKAT PAYABLE
ON PLOT OF LAND, IF YES ON WHAT VALUE ...SPECLY IF THE MKT VALUE IS VERY HIGH
BUT NOT AVAILABLE IN CASH??
If the intention in buying or
holding the plot of land is for business or to sell it when the value
increases, the zakat of 2.5% of the
market value of the land has to be paid.
If the intention of buying or holding the plot of land is to build one’s
own house and staying in it, then there
is no zakat on it.
In case the land is bought or
held for selling when the value increases later, and the person has no cash; there is no harm if he accounts to pay the
2.5% zakah due every year in one lump-sum when he actually sells the land.
Your question: IS ZAKAT PAYABLE
ON SHARES, IF YES ON WHAT VALUE ...SPECLY IF THE MKT VALUE IS VERY HIGH BUT
DIVIDENDS RECD ARE VERY SMALL??
Zakah of 2.5% of the market
value of the shares must be paid. If
the market value is high, and the person
has no cash, he may account for the 2.5%
zakah due every year and pay it in one lump-sum when he actually sells the
shares.
Your question: IS ZAKAT PAYABLE
ON HOUSE PROPERTY, CAR, JEWELLERY FOR SELF USE, IF YES AT WAHT VALUE...EVEN IF
THE MKT VALUE IS TOO HIGH ??
One does not have to pay zakah
on the house he lives in, or the car he
uses, or the furniture and fixture he
uses, or any of his assets of personal
use. Regarding the zakah due on
Jewelry, there are two opinions.
Opinion-1 on Jewelry
zakah: If one has limited
means that falls below the ‘nisaab’, and
the woman has only one set of jewelry which she regularly wears, then there is no zakat on her jewelry.
Opinion-2 on Jewelry
zakah: If Allah has
blessed the believing woman to have more than the ‘nisaab’, and the woman has more jewelry than her
immediate needs, she must pay 2.5% zakah
on her jewelry.
Asma' bint Yazid
reported: "My aunt and I, while wearing gold bracelets, went to the
Prophet (saws). He (saws) asked: 'Did you pay their zakah?' She related that they had not. The Prophet
(saws) said: 'Do you not fear that Allah will make you wear a bracelet of
fire? Pay its zakah.' " (Narrated by Ahmad)
One point to note here that
there is no zakah on precious stones like diamonds, rubies,
sapphire, etc. in the jewelry, unless these precious stones are for trading
or business purposes.
Your question: IF YOUR ANSWER TO
ALL ABOVE IS YES, THEN HOW WUD ONE PAY IT IN CASH SINCE HE WUD NOT NECESSARILY
HAVE LIQUID CASH TO PAY THE ZAKAT CALCULATED ON MKT VALUE.
If one does have the required
cash to pay the annual zakh, it would be
purer and better if the believer liquidated part of his assets if he can, and paid the annual ‘zakah’ dues on time. But if the asset is such that it cannot be
liquidated, or if one stands to loose too
much value in liquidating it; there is
no harm if one calculates and accounts for the yearly 2.5% zakah dues, and pays the amount in a lump-sum when he
does sell his assets.
Your question: PLS INDICATE HOW MANY
SUNNAT RAKATS HAVE TO BE PRAYED AFTER EVERY PRAYER AS SUNNAT A MOAKKADAH ??
Allah Subhanah commanded and
made five prayers obligatory (fard) for the believers, which if the believers do not pray, it is a major sin. All the other prayers are voluntary
(nafl); if one prays them, they will get a huge reward from Allah
Subhanah, and if one does not pray them, there is no sin. The voluntary (nafl) prayers which the
Prophet (saws) prayed become his Sunnah for the believers; and those voluntary (nafl) prayers which the
Prophet (saws) prayed regularly are known as the Sunnah Muakkedah.
The Messenger of Allah (saws)
regularly prayed a total of 12 rakahs voluntary prayers before or after the
obligatory prayers as follows:
2 before |
FAJR |
+0 after |
4 before |
DHUHR |
+2 after |
0 before |
ASR |
+0 after |
0 before |
MAGHRIB |
+2 after |
0 before |
ISHA |
+2 after |
Thus these twelve rakahs are
known as Sunnah Muakkedah, and the believers
who strive to observe these voluntary prayers will, Insha Allah,
receive a huge reward in the Presence of their Merciful Lord.
Whatever written of Truth and
benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is
of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.
