Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa
Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Asalam o alekum,
1 Aurat (Mrs. Ahmed) jin k husband ne pahle
3 HAJJ kiye hoye hein. Us k 4 bache hein. Mrs. Ahmed UMRAH karma chahti hein
lekin aub un ki mali condition achi nahen hay. Mrs. Ahmed k Rishtedar Mrs.
Ahmed ko apne kharchey par UMRAH karana chahte hein. Jo UMRAH karana chah rahe
hein wo apni family k saath ja rahe hein jin may ladies bhi hein. Mera sawal ye
hay :-
Question : Kiya Mr. Ahmed akeli us family k
saath UMRAH k liye Pakistan say Saudi Arabia safar kar sakti hein. Mrs. Ahmed k
saath koi MAHRAM nahen hay. OR ya Mrs. Ahmed apne zahan mey ye rakhen k mein
Pakistan sey Saudi Arabia Akeli safar kar rahi hoon.
Mrs. Ahmed ka bhayi Saudi Arabia may service
karta hay. Wo wahan Mrs. Ahmed ko Air Port par mil jaye ga or Mrs. Ahmed apney
bhayi k saath UMRAH Karengi. Ya koi aur condition jis k tahat Mrs. Ahmed UMRAH
kar saken.
Aafaq Ahmed,

Answer:
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Beloved brother in Islam, it is
not as if the believing woman needs a mehram only to accompany her for the Hajj
or Umrah pilgrimage; it is the command of Allah and His Messenger (saws) that a
woman who sincerely believes in Allah and the Last Day should not travel a
considerable distance to any destination without a mehram, for
her own protection.
Sahih Al-Bukhari
Hadith 2.194 Narrated by Abu
Huraira
The Prophet (saws)
said, "It is not permissible for a woman, who believes in Allah and the
Last Day, to travel for (a duration of)
one day and night except with a Mahram."
This Command of the prohibition
of travel without a mehram is applicable to every travel of the believing
woman, the duration of which exceeds a day and a night; but unfortunately, some
people today have applied this law only to the travel to the Sacred House, but do not apply it to all the other travels
they make.
The travel between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia by flight is
only a couple of hours, and if the brother of Mrs. Ahmed will receive her in
Jeddah and perform the Umrah with her, the majority of the scholars are of the
opinion that there is absolutely no harm if Mrs. Ahmed wishes to undertake this
journey of a couple of hours by flight to Jeddah without a mehram accompanying
her.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to
Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only
Source of Strength.
Your brother and
well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
