Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa
Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
A
friend of a mine told me that wearing jordan shoes are haram because it has a
figure of michael jordan dunking. But it doesn`t have any eyes, nose, or ears,
its only a figure. So I was asking if it was haram to wear jordan shoes and
clothes.

Answer:
Clothes shoes with animate pictures
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Sahih Al-Bukhari
Hadith 3.428 Narrated by Said bin
Abu Al Hasan
While I was with
Ibn 'Abbas a man came and said, "O father of 'Abbas! My sustenance is from
my manual profession and I make these pictures." Ibn 'Abbas said, "I will tell you only what I heard from
Allah's Messenger (saws). I heard him
saying, 'Whoever makes a picture will be punished by Allah till he puts life in
it, and he will never be able to put life in it.' " Hearing this, that man heaved a sigh and his
face turned pale. Ibn 'Abbas said to
him, "What a pity! If you insist on making pictures, I advise you to make
pictures of trees and any other unanimated objects."
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.838 Narrated by Aisha
Allah's Messenger (saws) returned from a
journey when I had placed a curtain of mine having (animate) pictures over (the
door of) a chamber of mine. When Allah's Messenger (saws) saw it, he (saws)
tore it and said, "The people who will receive the severest punishment on
the Day of Resurrection will be those who try to make the like of Allah's
creations!" So we turned it (i.e.,
the curtain) into one or two cushions.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 3.659 Narrated by Al Qasim
Aisha said that she hung a curtain decorated
with pictures (of animals) on a cupboard. The Prophet (saws) tore that curtain
and she turned it into two cushions which remained in the house for the Prophet
(saws) to sit on.
In light of the above absolutely clear guidance of the
Messenger of Allah (saws), it would be best and purest for the believers, who
sincerely fear Allah and the Last Day, to abstain from making, utilizing, or
displaying objects which contain pictures of animate creatures.
Your Question: So I
was asking if it was haram to wear jordan shoes and clothes.
If the clothes or shoes one wears has a picture of any
animate object, one should fear Allah and abstain from their usage.
Your Question: But
it doesn`t have any eyes, nose, or ears, its only a figure.
It is a misconception that if an animate figure does not
have a head, or eyes, or nose, or ears, etc., then its usage or display is
permitted in Islam! As long as the
figure is of an animate object, regardless of whether it has a head, or eyes,
or nose, or ears, etc.; the believers who sincerely fear Allah and the Last Day
must abstain from its usage or display.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to
Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only
Source of Strength.

well wisher in Islam,
