Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalamoalikum warahmatullahi wabrakatuhu,

May Allah Give you Ajr for your great services towards Islam.Brother i am very confused and wanted to solve this problem of mine.

What as if a women in her Menstruation go to mosque for the cause of studying tafseer of Quran and tajweed. I`ve read in your site that it`s forbidden and in an another site that there is small room attached to the Mosque with women`s Musalla and that is for those who have menstruation and cannot pray, so she can sit there for the sake of getting knowledge. My question is that what as if there is no room bcoz there are some mosques which has no such facility and if the lady doesn`t go during her menstruation days she can has a loss in her studies.Secondly if the room is there attached to the women side of mosque what as if the lady teaches there and she has her periods what will she do bcoz this is something from Allah and by not going there the students can bear loss in their studies. Please this is something i am really getting confused in it and by not having an answer i feel that about the clear concept in Islam that its Haraam for them to enter mosque and even sit there,if i may go i will do something against Allah and Prophet(PBUH).May Allah bless you for the answer please reply abt this as soon as possible bcoz i am really in need of it.

Jazazkumullahu khairan

Answer:

Menses mosque

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Hadrat Umm Salamah (r.a.), the wife of the Prophet (saws), related that the Messenger of Allah (saws) came to the mosque's courtyard and said at the top of his voice, "The mosque is off limits to menstruating women and the sexually impure persons."

Related by Ibn Majah and at-Tabarani.

In light of the above clear guidance of the Messenger of Allah (saws) it is not permissible in Islam for one is sexually impure or for a menstruating woman to enter or sit in the Masajids.

If the sisters are studying the Quran, then it is the responsibility of those moderating the courses that they should assemble their classes away from the mosques….and in the event the moderators who conduct the courses forget, the sisters should inform and remind them to make arrangements for sisters who would obviously experience their natural periods; the change of venue is something from the mosques to another place would solve the issue of all the sisters experiencing menstruation, regardless of whether they are students or teachers of the Quran.

But under no circumstances should a sister who is experiencing her menstruation enter the Houses of Allah Subhanah.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
