I would like to know about Jinns.
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum
wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon
all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Asalaamwaalaikum Brother Burhan,
Brother i would like to know about Jinns.
Do they have a parallel world and if yes is
it existing side by side with us, i mean do Jinns exist in our homes having
thier own families or they have seperate livings.
Is it tue that they see us and are all around us.
If that is true then is it not possible that the people who claim to bring the
spirits of dead people are actually calling the Jinns and as they know all what
we do they can recollect any past incident in a dead mans life and express it
to make people belive that the spirit of thier loved ones is lingering.
And if this is true dont you think that
Astrology, Tarrot card reading etc is nothing but whispers of jins in human
ears which some people knowingly and some unknowingly assume it to be guidance
from the almighty Lord.
Also can you guide to as much more facts
about them which are not known commonly
(There may be some grammatical and spelling
errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from
questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in
confidentiality.)
Answer:
The life of Jinns
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is no one (no idol, no person, no
grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Dear and Beloved Brother, the ‘Jinns’ are amongst the
‘unseen’, and whatever is amongst the ‘unseen’, its exact nature is known to
none save Allah Subhanah, the Creator of everything in existence. The only knowledge one has of the ‘unseen’ in
Truth can only be what has been made known to man by their Lord through His
Message and His Messenger (saws); and everything other than these two Divine
Sources of Knowledge has to be nothing but guess-works and conjecture.
Allah and His Messenger (saws) have made it known that the
Jinns, like everything else in creation, are a creation of Allah Subhanah, they
were created from a flame of smokeless fire, and like the human beings are
bestowed with limited intelligence and a ‘free will’ and thus involved in a
test of one short life to choose between obedience or disobedience,
righteousness or evil, belief or disbelief. They too, like the humans, will be
resurrected again after their death and called to account in the Presence of
the Majestic Creator on the Inevitable Day of Judgment, and the righteous
amongst them will be rewarded with Eternal Mercy and Paradise and the evil
amongst them will earn the Everlasting Wrath and Anger of the Lord and thus the
Fire of Hell. These are amongst the
things our Lord and His Messenger (saws) have made known to the believers of
the creation of the Jinns, and in Allah and His Messenger (saws) the believers
do believe.
The information regarding where exactly the Jinns live and
reside, what is the exact nature of their life, what exactly is permissible and
impermissible for them to eat or drink, what is their exact system of family
and governance, what is the exact nature of their appearance, etc. has not been
provided or made known to the humans, nor did the All-Wise, All-Knowing Lord
Determine such information was necessary for the guidance of mankind. For had this information been necessary for
the guidance of mankind, the Lord would definitely have made it known to us! When the The All-Knowing, All-Wise Lord did
not Will to make any information of the ‘unseen’ known to man, it is safe to
assume that this information was neither beneficial nor useful for the guidance
of mankind.
Do they have a parallel world and if yes is it
existing side by side with us, i mean do Jinns exist in our homes having thier
own families or they have seperate livings.
Although there is evidence in the Quran and the Sunnah
that Jinns do reside on this earth, where exactly the Jinns dwell, whether they
reside in the same houses as humans do or they have access to any other expanse
in the creation of the Lord, and where exactly is the presence of the Jinns is
known to none save Allah Subhanah, the Knower of the seen and the unseen. The All-Knowing, All-Wise Lord did not Will
to make this information known to man, thus it is safe to assume that this
information was neither beneficial nor useful for the guidance of mankind.
Your Question: Is it tue that they see us and
are all around us.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah
Aaraaf verse 27:
27 O ye children of Adam! Let
not the Shaytaan seduce you in the same manner as he got your parents (Adam and
Hawwa) out of the garden stripping them of their raiment to expose their shame:
for he (the Shaytaan) and his tribe watch you from a position where ye cannot
see them: We made the evil ones friends (only) to those without faith.
In light of the above guidance of the Glorious Quran it is
indeed true that the Shayateen Jinns see mankind from a position where we
cannot see them; but there is absolutely nothing in the Quran and Sunnah to
indicate that they are all around us!
And Allah Alone Knows Best.
Your Question: If that is true then is it not
possible that the people who claim to bring the spirits of dead people are
actually calling the Jinns and as they know all what we do they can recollect
any past incident in a dead mans life and express it to make people belive that
the spirit of thier loved ones is lingering.
And if this is true dont you think that
Astrology, Tarrot card reading etc is nothing but whispers of jins in human
ears which some people knowingly and some unknowingly assume it to be guidance
from the almighty Lord.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 4.508 Narrated by Aisha
The Prophet (saws) said, "While the
Angels talk amidst the clouds about things that are going to happen on earth,
the Jinns (sometimes may) hear a word of what they say and pour it in the ears
of a soothsayer as one pours something in a bottle, and they add one hundred
lies to that (one word)."
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 8.232 Narrated by Aisha
Some people asked Allah's Messenger about the
fore-tellers. Allah's Messenger (saws)
said to them, "They are nothing (i.e., liars)!" The
people said, 'O Allah's Messenger (saws)! Sometimes they tell something which
comes out to be true." Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "That word
which comes to be true is what a Jinn snatches away by stealing and then pours
it in the ear of his fore-teller with a sound similar to the cackle of a hen,
and they then add to it one-hundred lies!"
Beloved brother, the guidance of Allah is what He has
related in His Glorious Book of Guidance, the Al-Quran, and what the Lord
Willed to make known to His Messenger Mohamed (saws), who in turn made it known
to the believers.
All the soothsayers, fortune-tellers, astrologists,
palmists, tarot card readers, etc. who try to tell man something of the
‘unseen’ are nothing but what the Noble Prophet Mohamed (saws) called them:
liars!!! Such is the sin and crime of
approaching or believing a foreteller (astrologist, soothsayer, tarot card
reader, etc.) in Islam, that the Messenger of Allah (saws) declared such a
person who approaches or believes in them to be a disbeliever in the Sight of
Allah Subhanah.
Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 551 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah
Allah's Messenger (saws) said, ‘He who
approaches (or believes in) a ‘kahin’ (fore-teller, soothsayer, astrologist,
etc) has disbelieved in that which was revealed to Muhammad (saws).’
If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and
commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws),
one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any
other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be
assured of being led astray.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to
Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only
Source of Strength.
Your brother and
well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
