In the
name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness.
Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray,
none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no
person, no grave, no prophet, no imam,
no dai, nobody!) worthy of
worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His
slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
The
Messenger of Allah (saws) was not sent by Allah Subhanah as a doctor to treat
the physical ailments of mankind…. But he (saws) was sent as a Mercy from the
Most Merciful to heal the people of the spiritual diseases like ‘kufr’
(disbelief), ‘shirk’ (polytheism), etc.
Its not
that everyone who had a physical problem at the time of the Prophet (saws),
like a sore throat, or a bleeding arm, or any physical disease, etc. came to
the Messenger of Allah (saws) for treatment! About matters which can be learnt
through experience, or through experiments in the laboratories, or through
advancement of technology, etc. one should use the best available opinion or
remedy by consulting the experts of that technical knowledge! Even the Prophet (saws) himself used to turn
to the available doctors or ‘hakeems’ of the times, when he or any of his
family members had any physical ailments; and used the available medicine of
the times.

Thus my
beloved sister in Islam, it would thus be best and more beneficial if you
shared and explained your physical concerns with your doctor, who would be best
qualified to prescribe a remedy for it.
Once you
have taken the opinion of the experts and acted according to their advice in
full, then it is only righteousness that one who believes keeps his full trust
and belief in their Lord Most Gracious to bestow on them His Blessings, ‘Shifa’
(cure) and Mercy and help them to overcome their trial with beautiful patience
and steadfastness.
Amongst
the best supplications a believer who has an ailment or physical deficiency can
make to their Lord Most High is the supplication made by the Noble Prophet
Ayyub (a.s.), as narrated in the Glorious Quran. Prophet Ayyub (a.s.) was tested by Allah
Subhanah for a long period with a severe disease, loss of children, loss of property and wealth, etc., but he
(a.s.) remained steadfast in his trial from His Lord and beseeched Him in
humility and in hope as follows:
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 21 Surah Anbiyaa verses 83-84:
And (remember) Ayyub when he cried to his Lord
"Truly distress has seized me, but Thou art the Most Merciful of those that
are merciful." So We
listened to him: We removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his people to him and doubled
their number as a Grace from Ourselves,
and a thing for commemoration for all who serve Us.
Whatever
written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance,
and whatever of error is of me alone.
Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your Brother in
Islam,
