Meaning Name Yumna

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The term and name ‘Yumna’ is derived from the Arabic root word ‘Yameen’ or ‘Right’, and all the meanings which you have quoted like one who is Right, Blessed, Fortunate, etc. are indeed the true meanings of the name ‘Yumna’; and thus a good and perfectly acceptable name for a girl in Islam.

Your Question: but in quran this word in surah qayyamah where the meaning of this is different

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 75 Surah Qiyaamah verses 36-37:

36      Does Man think that he will be left uncontrolled (without purpose)?

37      Was he not a drop of sperm ‘yumna’ (emitted) ?

Beloved Sister, although the exact term ‘yumna’ is used here in the Quran, it is used as a verb and it means that which is dropped or emitted; and in the principles and laws of the Arabic language a verb cannot be used or derived as a name!

Rest assured that ‘Yumna’ is a perfectly good and acceptable name in Islam and when used as a name, it means one who is Right, Blessed and Fortunate.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother and sincere well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
