A husband gave his wife full consent to sleep with another man how is this viewed in Islam

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Asalam ualaikum

Thank you for providing such a service to the less learned members of our great religion.

My question is: If a husband gave his wife full consent to sleep with another man how is this viewed in Islam. And the same with a wife giving consent to her husband to sleep with another woman. Therefore approval is authorised by the partner, where is the problem?.

Please dont think this is ridiculous because i`ve known this to happen.

Answer:

Husband wife permission zina

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

May Allah Subhanah reward you with the best of this world and the Hereafter for your kind comments of encouragement for our humble efforts in the propagation of the Truth.    If our humble and modest efforts have helped even one brother or sister get closer to Allah and His Deen of Truth, then we would consider ourselves indeed fortunate to have been given this opportunity by the Lord Most Merciful to serve in His Cause.  We hope,  beg,  and pray the Merciful Lord  accepts our humble and weak efforts,  forgives us our shortcomings,  and saves you, us,  and all the believers from the torment of the Hell Fire.  Ameen.

Your Statement: Please dont think this is ridiculous because i`ve known this to happen.

Unfortunately in these ‘free’-modern-educated-ignorant but un-Godly times we live in today, where men and women live together without marrying is tolerable, where pre-marital sex is considered acceptable, where being an unwed mother is considered fashionable, where daughters and sisters are not safe from their own fathers and brothers, where abortion and the murder of sacred life is rampant, where the shedding of clothes and the display of flesh is promoted as ‘fashion’, where the righteous wearing of the ‘hijaab’ is considered backward, subjugation of women, and declared illegal, where all that is required for one to have sex is ‘consent’, where men and women come to television ‘talk-shows’ to announce their infidelity, where men have been known to have had sex with their animals, where a man can legally marry another man, where a woman can legally marry another woman, ….. Allah is our witness, the term ‘ridiculous’ is just too shallow and too insignificant to describe the state of depravity, decadence, and degenerance humanity and morality finds itself in today!

Thus my beloved sister, we assure you that we do not think that the question you have asked is ‘ridiculous’ at all; but an important one the consequence of which needs to be understood and addressed in light of the guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah.

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3655        Narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar

Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "There are three people to whom Allah has forbidden Paradise: one who is addicted to wine, an undutiful son, and a husband who agrees to his wife’s adultery."

Your Statement: Therefore approval is authorised by the partner, where is the problem?.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 17 Surah Israa verse 32: Do not even go near ‘zina’ (fornication or adultery) for it is a very indecent thing and a very evil way!

The ‘problem’ is that Allah Subhanah, the Majestic and Supreme Lord of the Worlds has forbidden the evil act and the abomination of ‘zina’ for His believing slaves!

The ‘problem’ lies in the fact that this sin of ‘zina’ is so heinous and so grave in the sight of the All-Mighty Lord, that He has prescribed the ultimate punishment of stoning to death those guilty of this abomination!  Bear in mind that this is only the fitting and just punishment Allah has commanded the righteous society to extract from those guilty of adultery in the life of this transitory and short world; for those who do not repent, one can only imagine the Wrath, Anger and the Punishment of the All-Mighty Lord in the eternal and everlasting life of the Hereafter!

The ‘problem’ lies in the fact that those who commit or consent to such evil deeds ridicule and in effect abuse the union which the righteous amongst society uphold as the sacred institution of marriage!

The ‘problem’ lies in the absolute and inevitable fact that One Inevitable and Tumultuous Day every person will be gathered and brought forth in the Presence of the Majestic and Supreme Lord and Judge to give a full accounting of his deeds!

The ‘problem’ lies in the fact that man is not the inherent owner of his own ‘will’ or consent; but rather it is a trust which their Lord Creator has bestowed upon them to see what does this supreme creation of the Lord do when entrusted with a limited ‘free’ will for a period of time as a test.  Then to His Majestic Presence all will be gathered on One Tumultuous and Overwhelming Day to give a full accounting of what man did with this bestowed trust!

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 25 Surah Furqaan verses 63-71: The (true) servants of the Merciful are those who walk humbly on the earth.   When the ignorant people behave insolently towards them,  they say, “Peace to you”;  (And they are those) who pass their nights in prostrating themselves and standing before their Lord and pray, “O our Lord,  save us from the torment of Hell,  for its torment is killing!  It is an evil abode,  and an evil resting place”.  (And those) who,  when they spend are neither extravagant,  nor miserly,  but keep the golden mean between the two extremes.  (And those) who do not invoke any god but Allah Alone,  nor kill a soul unjustly which Allah has forbidden,  nor commit adultery… He who does this shall be punished for his sin,  and his torment shall be doubled on the Day of Resurrection,  and he shall abide in a state of ignominy;  EXCEPT THE ONE WHO MAY HAVE REPENTED (AFTER THOSE SINS),  AND HAVE BELIEVED AND DONE RIGHTEOUS DEEDS.   For then,  Allah will change his evil deeds into good deeds,  and He is very Forgiving and Merciful.   In fact,  one who repents and does righteous deeds,  returns to Allah as one rightly should!

Man might get away with abusing the ‘trust’ that the Lord Creator has bestowed upon him in the life of this short and transient world; but Allah is our witness, no doer of evil who does not repent will get away with his evil on that Day of Justice and Resurrection!

My dear and beloved sister in Islam, for those who sincerely fear Allah and the Last Day, ‘consent’ to do or abstain from something is when their Lord Creator gives them His Consent!  Just because two adults simply ‘consent’ to have sex amongst themselves does not make this act legal or acceptable in the sight of Allah, for He has provided mankind with a set of rules and pre-conditions which when followed would make this act of sex between a legally married husband and wife an acceptable and rewardable deed in the sight of the Majestic Lord.

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: ‘The Sadaqah from you is prescribed for you, and there is a reward for you [even] in sex with your wife!'  The companions asked "O Messenger of Allah (saws) is there a reward if one satisfies his passion?" He (saws) said: "Do you know that if he satisfies it unlawfully he has taken a sin upon himself? Likewise, if he satisfies it lawfully, he is rewarded."

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
