Dear Sir Assalam-o-Alikum, I heard there is a hadeet " If u go to buy something bargain so mautch that u swet. Is this true or any thing related. And reason for the hadeet.

Answer:

 

Bargain sweat

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

 

Beloved brother in Islam, to the best of our knowledge there is no such narration in the authentic Sunnah whereby the Messenger of Allah (saws) guided the believers to bargain until they sweat! 

 

Allah and His Messenger (saws) have guided the believers never to take undue advantage of the condition of their brothers, but rather to trade amongst themselves through mutual good-will and to be generous in their dealings, whether they buy or they sell.

 

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 29: O ye who believe! Eat not up your property among yourselves in vanities: but let there be amongst you traffic and trade by mutual good-will: nor kill (or destroy) yourselves: for verily Allah hath been to you Most Merciful.

 

Malik related from Yahya ibn Said that he heard Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir say, "Allah loves His slave who is generous when he sells, generous when he buys, generous when he repays, and generous when he is repaid."

 

One has a natural right to investigate what he is buying, and make sure that he is not cheated or charged more than the fair value in a trade.  There is absolutely no harm if one wishes to bargain and get the best deal for oneself, provided one is fair, just and equitable and does not intend to take undue advantage of the condition of the seller.

 

Al-Muwatta Hadith  Hadith 31.97

Imam Malik said: "Were people to leave off haggling (bargaining) when the first person started haggling, an unreal price might be taken and the disapproved would enter into the sale of the goods. This is still the way of doing trade among us."

 

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
