Oral sex
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's
Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Dear brother(s), As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
In one of your responses (Question No. 1043), you claim that one
of the acts prohibited to a Muslim is the act of "Oral Sex." This is indeed a very dirty practice and has
sort of become a characteristics of the non-Muslims. Taking this into consideration, this is the first time I have
read anywhere that this practice is totally haraam. Is there any proof where
the Prophet (saw) prohibited Oral sex,
as he prohibited Anal sex and having sex with one’s wife during her menstrual
periods?
I would like to apologize in advance for the vulgarity of this
question but nonetheless its importance since it has become an apparent social phenomenon (courtesy of the
internet and other western devices) and must be addressed. Jazaka`Allah
khairun.

Answer:

In the
name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness.
Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray,
none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no
person, no grave, no prophet, no imam,
no dai, nobody!) worthy of
worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His
slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Beloved
brother in Islam, one should never hesitate or feel ashamed to ask any question
in Islam provided one’s intention is to seek knowledge or clarification on any
aspect of this vast and beautiful ‘way of life’ called Al-Islam.
The Quran
and the Sunnah are silent about the concept what is known today as ‘oral sex’,
whereby one touches the spouse’s sexual organs with one’s mouth. Some scholars have voiced their opinion
against touching either of the partner’s sex organs with the mouth or ‘oral
sex’. But because nothing is mentioned
in the Quran and Sunnah, the scholars
have not said it is absolutely forbidden or ‘haraam’… The most they have said
is that one should fear Allah and stay away from this act as it is considered
impure, unclean and unhealthy and thus
closer to the forbidden than to the lawful.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 3.267 Narrated
by An Numan bin Bashir
The Prophet (saws) said "Both, ‘halaal’ (lawful) and
‘haraam’ (forbidden) things are obvious, and in between them are (suspicious)
doubtful matters. So whoever forsakes
those doubtful things lest he may commit a sin, will definitely avoid what is
clearly illegal; and whoever indulges in these (suspicious) doubtful things
bravely, is likely to commit what is clearly forbidden.’
Whatever

and whatever of error is of me. Allah
Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your Brother in Islam,
Burhan
