Dear Burhan I`m interested in gaining more knowledge and I got your address and I read many of your issues too, found it very useful. I have a questions kindly answer in the light of Quran and Sunnah.i got a bussiness proposal and want to know is it hallal or haram? It is a business of selling computer tecnology which mostly used in studios for editing the programes,(serials,films,documentries,news.... ect.)

Selling to makers of movies and films

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

 

The selling of computer technology used for editing in studios in its essence is not forbidden, thus its earnings will be considered absolutely halaal for the believers.  If one knows that the people who buy the technology will use it for the good of humanity, there is absolutely no harm and he will receive a double reward for it.

 

But if one has specific knowledge that the one who buys his product will use it to make indecent films that spread ‘fahisha’ in society, then it would be best to abstain from associating with them.

 

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
