Dream about Father

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Recently I had a dream of my father. My father passed away around 6 months ago. In this dream I asked my father that is there God. When I asked him this question he started crying and then my dream ended. Another time I asked him again then angrily he said No there is no God. The reason that I think is that he had cancer and we prayed a lot. And helped needy people a lot. I think he was "angry" with God for taking him from his family. If you can answer why he said there is no God, if he is in so called "Paradise" why was he angry in my dream?

Answer:

Dream about father

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 9.144         Narrated by Abu Huraira

Allah's Messenger (saws) said, 'There are three types of dreams: The reflection of one's thoughts and experiences one has during wakefulness, what is suggested by Satan to frighten the dreamer, or glad tidings from Allah.  So, if someone has a dream which he dislikes, he should not tell it to others, but get up and offer a prayer.' "

Not all dreams that are experienced by people are true.  Only the good dreams which convey glad tidings from Allah Subhanah can be deemed true.  Besides,  one cannot use dreams to determine the articles of faith of whether there is Allah or not, or whether there is Paradise or not, etc.  To determine this, Allah Subhanah has bestowed mankind with intelligence and the power of reasoning;  and man is required to use his intelligence, and ponder over the innumerable Signs of the Magnificent and Perfect Creator in the Universe.

The dream that you have dictated whereby you saw your deceased father who said there is no God, is definitely a dream from the avowed enemy of man, the Shaitaan; who will use any and all means at his disposal to misguide people from the Straight Path.  Neither should you believe what you saw in that dream, nor should you give it an atom’s weight of importance, nor should you even relate this dream to anyone.  Seek the refuge in Allah Subhanah from the accursed Shaitaan, and Allah Subhanah will keep you in His Protection and Mercy.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
