Nazrulmukam
Mu'
meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As
Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and
Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Can
you bring to light what is written in HOLY QURAN about "Nazrulmukam"
?
(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)
Answer:
In the name of Allah, We praise
Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and who-ever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no
imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness
that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
There is absolutely nothing written in the Glorious Quran about Nazrul Muqaam, and neither is there anything documented in the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws).
This is a term concocted by some sects to fleece their unsuspecting followers in the name of Islam. No other sect in Islam, other than the Dawoodi Bohra sect have this form of collection! The collection of ‘nazrul maqaam’ has nothing to do with Islam!
The Holy Quran exhorts the believers to pay Zakat (obligatory charity) and Sadaqa (voluntary charity) for the pleasure of Allah Subhanah.
Allah
says in the Holy Quran Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verse 60: Charity are only for
the needy, the indigent, for those who are employed to collect them, for those
whose hearts are to be won over (to Islam), for the ransoming of slaves, for
helping the debtors, for the Cause of Allah, and for the hospitality of the
wayfarers. This is an obligatory duty
from Allah, and Allah is the All Knowing, All Wise.
We again reiterate that there is absolutely nothing in the Quran and Sunnah regarding ‘nazrul maqaam’, and therefore not binding to the believers. If anyone pays this tax from his hard-earned money, he should not expect to receive any reward from Allah Subhanah, as it is not done in His name. To do ‘nazr’ on any other name, other than the Blessed Name of Allah Subhanah, is a manifestation of the heinous sin of ‘shirk’!
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your brother and well wisher in Islam,
