What does Asma al Husna mean?

1.What is “asma al husna”?
2.Why is Prophet Moses called (a.s.) while Prophet Mohamed
called (saws)?

Answer:
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His
forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and who-ever He allows to
fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one
(no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of
worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His
slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your question: What is
“asma al husna”?
Asma
means names, and husna means
beautiful. Thus “asma al husna” means
the beautiful names of Allah Subhanah.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 17 Surah Bani Israel verse 110:
For to Him (Allah) belong the most beautiful names.
Allah
has given Himself the most beautiful names in the Holy Quran. They are 99 in number, and the 100th
is Allah itself. An example of Allah’s
beautiful names would be:
Ar-Rahmaan
(The Beneficient or The Gracious)
Ar-Raheem (The Most Merciful)
Al-Maalik
(The Sovereign Lord or King)
Al-Jabbar
(The Compeller)
Al-Ghafoor
(The All Forgiving)
Etc.

Your question: Why is
Prophet Moses called (a.s.) while Prophet Mohamed called (saws)?
(a.s.)
is the short for “alay hiss salaam” or (May Allah’s) Peace be upon him.
(saws)
is short for “sall Allah o alayhe wa sallam”
or May Allah’s Peace and Blessing be upon him.
Although,
for all the Prophets of Allah, we can say either of the above two prayers, we
are commanded in the Holy Quran by Allah specifically to say “sallalla o alayhe wa sallam” or “May Allah’s
Peace and Blessing be upon him” for the Last Prophet of Allah, Mohamed (saws).
Allah says in the Quran Chapter 33 Surah Ahzab verse 56: Indeed,
Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet (Mohamed (saws)). O you who believe, you should also (ask
Allah) to send blessings and peace upon him.
This
honor is especially for the Last Prophet of Allah, Mohamed (saws). The Prophet (saws) said in an authentic
narration that: “Do not be stingy in asking Allah to send Peace and Blessings
upon me (saws), for whoever prays the dua once, Allah and the angels send ten
blessings upon the believer.”
Allah
Alone knows best, and He is the only Source of strength.

Straight Path of Islam.
