Why hanging sentence always in morning.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Fansi ki saza ke liye fajar ke bad aur suraj nikalne se pahle ka kyun decide kiya gaya hai?

(When the sentence of hanging to death in pronounced why is it that it is always carried out after ‘fajr’ and/or after the sun has risen?)

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Why hanging sentence always in morning

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Firstly, to take the life of the convict by sentencing him/her to be hanged to death is not based from the Shariah.  The sentences that are from the Shariah for death penalty are either ‘beheading’ (for murder) or ‘stoning to death’ (for adultery) and these sentences are recommended to be carried out after Jumuah prayers so that a portion of the believers may be able to witness it.

The reason why the sentence of hanging the convict to death is carried out at dawn is best known to the judges who pronounce such a sentence!

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
