He has already done hajj twice and now, he wants to perform a haaj-e-badal for his father who is not in this world now,  though his father had a great wish to perform haj but by the time he completed his worldly duties it was too late, he bacame ill and weak hence was unable to complete his wish,  he did not passed any will for his children to perform hajj - badal for him still his son wants to do a hajj in his name , my question is that, what kind of hajj should he perform if he wants to do a hajj-badal, kindly describe in detail about all the arqaans.

Answer:

Hajj badl for father

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: ….my question is that, what kind of hajj should he perform if he wants to do a hajj-badal, kindly describe in detail about all the arqaans.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 9.418         Narrated by Ibn Abbas

A woman came to the Prophet (saws) and said, "My mother vowed to perform the Hajj but she died before performing it. Should I perform the Hajj on her behalf?" He (saws) said, "Yes! Perform the Hajj on her behalf.  See, if your mother had been in debt, would you have paid her debt?"  She said, "Yes." He (saws) said, "So you should pay what is for Him, as Allah has more right that one should fulfill one's obligations to Him."

There is allowance in the Shariah for the believers to perform the Hajj or the Umra pilgrimage for their loved ones who are deceased, or for their loved ones who due to a genuine reason like physical disability, etc. are unable to perform the journey to the Sacred House.  If Allah Wills and Pleases to accept their efforts, the Lord Most Gracious will reward the one who fulfills the rites as well as the one for whom it was intended.

Your Question: ….kindly describe in detail about all the arqaans.

There is absolutely no difference in the rites and rituals of the pilgrimage, regardless of whether one does the pilgrimage for oneself or for someone else….the one and only difference the person doing a pilgrimage for another would be that when one makes the ‘neeyah’ or intention at the time of entering into the ‘ehram’ for pilgrimage, instead of declaring ‘Labbayka Allahumma Umrah (or Hajj)’ meaning (Here I come O my Lord for Umrah (or Hajj)) for oneself….one would declare: ‘Labbayka Allahumma Umrah (or Hajj) ann “so and so” (name of the person)’ meaning (Here I come O my Lord to do Umrah (or Hajj) for “so and so”).

Other than making the ‘neeyah’ in the name of the person one intends to perform the pilgrimage for, there is absolutely no difference in the actual rites and rituals of the pilgrimage in the least.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
