Answer:

Dua supplication after completion of Quran

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

If one individually finishes the recitation of the Glorious Quran, or does any good deed for the Pleasure and Sake of their Lord Most Gracious, it is only accepted etiquette that one make sincere supplications unto their Lord Most Gracious that He accept their humble striving and reserve their due rewards with Him.

But if one were to invent a ritual whereby every time someone finishes the recitation of the Glorious Quran, one were to gather people and make collective supplications, that indeed would constitute a ‘bida’ or an innovation in the pure and perfect deen of Islam.

It is not at all accurate that the Messenger of Allah (saws) made dua or supplications only during the ‘qunut’ in the ‘witr’ prayers….for the Messenger of Allah (saws), in his individual capacity, made supplications unto His Lord Most Gracious at absolutely all times and at every occasion in his daily life. Such is the significance of making ‘dua’ or supplicating unto one’s Lord, that the Messenger of Allah (saws) termed ‘dua’ as worship itself!

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 186:

And if  My servants ask you,  O Prophet, concerning Me,  tell them that I am quite near to them.   I hear and answer the prayer of the suppliant,  when he calls on Me.  So let them respond to My call and believe in Me.  (Convey this to them),  perhaps they may be guided aright!

Nu'man b. Bashir reported that the Prophet (saws), said, "Verily supplication is worship."

Narrated by Ahmad and Sunan.

Abu Hurairah reported, "The Prophet (saws) said, "Nothing is more dear to Allah than one's supplication to Him.''

Narrated by Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah.

Salman reported that the Prophet (saws), said, "Your Lord, the Blessed and the Exalted One, is Modest and Generous, and He loathes to turn away His servant empty-handed when he raises his hands to Him in supplication."

Narrated by Ahmad and Ibn Hibban.

There is evidence in the authentic and established Sunnah that the Messenger of Allah (saws), other than making collective dua in the ‘qunut’ in prayers, would also do during his Friday or Eid sermons, at the graves of the recently buried, etc.

Your Question: Please can you give us daleel that dua  on the takmeel of Quran can be done.

Hadrat Aisha (r.a.) reported that the Prophet (saws) said: "The Prophet (saws) offered (voluntary) night prayers (tarawih) in the mosque one night in Ramadan (tarawih) and many people prayed with him. The next day he (saws) did the same and more people prayed with him. Then the people gathered on the third night but, the Prophet (saws) did not come out to them.  In the morning, he (saws) said to them: 'Surely I saw what you did, and nothing prevented me from coming out to you, save that I feared that [that the tarawih prayer] would be made obligatory upon you.' And that was during Ramadan."

Reported Hadrat Zaid bin Thabit that the Prophet (saws)  took a room made of date palm leaves mats in the mosque.  The Prophet (saws)  prayed in it for a few nights till the people gathered (to pray the night prayer (Tarawih) (behind him.)  Then on the 4th night the people did not hear his voice and they thought he had slept,  so some of them started humming in order that he might come out.  The Prophet (saws) then said, "You continued doing what I saw you doing till I was afraid that this (Tarawih prayer) might be enjoined on you, and if it were enjoined on you, you would not continue performing it.  Therefore, O people! Perform your prayers at your homes, for the best prayer of a person is what is performed at his home except the compulsory (congregational) prayer.”

Because the Messenger of Allah (saws) only led the ‘tarawih’ prayers in congregation for two or three days in Ramadan in his lifetime, he (saws) obviously did not have a chance to recite the complete Quran in the prayers.

When some amongst the ‘imam’s’ who choose to diligently recite the whole Quran during the ‘tarawih’ prayers in Ramadan make collective supplications in congregation at the completion of the recitation, (including in the two Holy Mosques), they make sure that they do so during the ‘qunut’ of the ‘witr’ prayers….and making collective supplications during the ‘qunut’ in prayer in congregation is established from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws).

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
