If we perform umrah after isha prayer and after the completion of saee can we wait to cut our hair after the tahajjud namaz

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Thank you very much for answering my questions regarding umrah. I would be grateful to you if you can answer these question of mine regarding umrah. Please give the reply soon since we are leaving in two weeks, inshallah for umrah. All your help is greatly appreciated and inshallah allah will bless you here and in the hereafter.

If we perform umrah after isha prayer and after the completion of saee can we wait to cut our hair after the tahajjud namaz, recite quran and perform fajr and then proceed to cut the hair? Is it acceptable? And before you cut the hair can one perform nafl tawaaf? And regarding the nafl tawaf, is there any limitation to the number of rounds one is supposed to perform i.e., for umrah it is seven rounds and for nafl tawaf can one perform any number of rounds or is it 7 rounds as well. Thank you very much. Your early response will be greatly appreciated.

Answer:

Delay cutting of hair in umrah

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Questions: If we perform umrah after isha prayer and after the completion of saee can we wait to cut our hair after the tahajjud namaz, recite quran and perform fajr and then proceed to cut the hair? Is it acceptable? And before you cut the hair can one perform nafl tawaaf?

Beloved brother in Islam, just as one would remain under the restrictions of prayer before one completes one’s prayer with the act of ‘tasleems’ on either side; a pilgrim would remain under the restriction of ‘ehram’ until he cuts his hair to signify the end of his Umrah pilgrimage.

There is absolutely no harm if one wishes to delay the cutting of one’s hair after one has completed all of their Umrah pilgrimage rites; but until they cut their hair, all the restrictions which are laid upon one who is in the state of ‘ehram’ will be laid upon them.

There is absolutely no harm if one wishes to offer further supererogatory prayers, or recite the Quran, or perform the tawaaf, or offer their fajr prayers, etc. before they get out of the state of ‘ehram’ by cutting their hair, provided they honor the restrictions of being in the ‘ehram’ until they cut their hair.

Your Question: for nafl tawaf can one perform any number of rounds or is it 7 rounds as well.

Regardless of whether one is performing the obligatory (fard) or voluntary (nafl) tawaafs of the Sacred House, Shariah Law dictates that a tawaaf rite will only be completed if one makes seven full rounds of the Kaaba.

One may perform as many nafl or voluntary tawaaf as one wills and pleases, but they must be in multiples of seven rounds.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
