Answer:
Wearing seat belts
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah
Maidah verse 2 (part)
…..Help ye one
another in righteousness and piety, but help ye not one another in sin and
rancor: fear Allah: for Allah is strict in punishment.
Dear and beloved brother, Islam does not at all prohibit
the believers to obey any laws which are made in a civil society to help one
another, or for the safety of one another, or for cleanliness, etc. All such
good laws and practices must be honored by the believers; provided none of
these man-made laws encourage sin and rancor and do not go against the clear
guidance of Shariah.
Thus if members of a society enact a law which demands its
citizens to stop at traffic lights, or ‘zebra’ crossings, or observe speed limits,
or wear seat-belts, etc…..these laws of a civil society must be scrupulously
honored by the believers for they are indeed for the general safety and
betterment of society, and do not at all violate any of the Commands or
Guidance of Shariah Law.
I have read the article you provided the ‘url’ for, and
frankly brother, the article must be taken for what it actually is: a view-point
and opinion of one individual…..and although we do not at all subscribe to the
brother’s opinion, every person has a right
to his own opinion….and we should leave it at that!!!
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to
Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only
Source of Strength.
Your brother and
well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
