Answer:

Significance of hijaab

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: my question is...though my sister is beliving women she does not do hijab... she belives in cosmopolitian society. pls explain the importanced of hijab. why should we do it?

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah Ahzaab verse 59:

O Prophet, enjoin your wives and daughters, and the believing women, that they should cast their outer garments over their persons.   It is expected that they will thus be recognized, and not molested.   Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 24 Surah Nur verse 31:

(O Prophet) enjoin the believing woman to restrain their gaze and guard their modesty, and not to display their adornment except that which is displayed of itself, and to draw their veils over their bosoms, and not to display their adornments except before their husbands, their fathers, …….and also forbid them to stamp their feet on the ground lest their hidden ornaments should be displayed.

Allah Subhanah has directed the Command towards the Prophet (saws) commanding him to enjoin his wives, his daughters and the believing women that they should cast their outer garments over their full body, except what is displayed of itself.   All the schools of thought in Islam are unanimous in their opinion that the casting of an outer garment or ‘jilbaab’ is absolutely obligatory on every believing woman who sincerely believes in Allah and the Last Day.

The difference of opinion amongst the scholars is what exactly is included in the command ‘except that which is displayed of itself’.  There are two opinions amongst the scholars in Islam regarding this part of the verse:  One opinion is that it means the face, hands and feet may be left uncovered,  and the other opinion is that the face also has to be covered (naqaab), and only the hands and feet may be left uncovered.

The most accepted opinion is that if the women covers everything except her face, hands, and her feet, she would be following the Command of Allah; and if she chooses to cover her face with a ‘naqaab’, then it will be purer and closest to the Command of Allah.  And Allah Alone Knows Best.

Your Question: pls explain the importanced of hijab. why should we do it?

The reason any woman,  who sincerely believes in Allah and the Last Day,  must cover herself is because it is the commandment of Allah.

Allah enjoins the believing women to cover herself when not in the company of her (mehram) relatives, so that she may be recognized as a believing and obedient slave of Allah Subhanah. Her chaste and modest clothing is a sign to the other people that she is different from the other non-believing woman. Her clothing is her certificate that she is one who sincerely believes in Allah and the Last Day and obeys His Commandments; thus if any person who has evil intentions should beware before approaching this believing servant of Allah.

The One Who Created,  is the One Who recognizes the nature of His creation. The believing woman is commanded not to display her figure and her beauty to men other than her (mehram) relatives, so that the illegal emotions of society may be curtailed; which will result in a God-fearing and pious society for all.    Allah has commanded both the believing man and woman to also lower their gazes and guard their modesty, as that is indeed purer for them and for the society as a whole.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 24 Surah Noor verses 30-31:

30      (O Prophet (saws)): Say to the believing men that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty: that will make for greater purity for them: and Allah is well acquainted with all that they do.

31      And (also) say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty;….

It should be an honor for any woman, who sincerely believes in Allah and the Last Day, to conform to this uniform that Her Lord Creator Himself has prescribed for her.

Sahih Muslim Hadith 6840     Narrated by Abu Hurayrah

Allah's Messenger (saws) said: ‘There are two types, amongst the denizens of Hell, I have yet not seen them. One possessing whips like the tail of an ox and they flog people with them. (The second one) the women who would be naked in spite of their being dressed, who are seduced (to wrong paths) and seduce others with their hair high like humps. These women would not get into Paradise and they would not perceive the odour of Paradise, although its fragrance can be perceived from such and such (a great) distance!’

Your Question: 2nd question is can we style our hair or color it as i take hijab but i want to look good 4 my husband. can i bleach my face? or put make make-up?

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 24 Surah An-Noor verse 31:

And O Prophet,  enjoin the believing women to restrain their gaze and guard their private parts and not to display their ‘zeenata hunna’ (beauty, adornment, etc.) except that which is displayed of itself ,  and to draw their veils over their bosoms and not to display their ‘zeenata hunna’ (beauty, adornment, etc.) except before their husbands, their fathers, the fathers of their husbands, their sons and the sons of their husbands,  their brothers,  their brothers sons, their sisters’ sons,  their female associates, and those in their possession and male attendants incapable of sexual desire,  and those boys who have not yet attained knowledge of sexual matters.   Also forbid them to stamp their feet on the ground lest their hidden ornaments should be displayed.

There is absolutely no restriction or prohibition in Shariah regarding the type or cut or color of hair a believing woman may adorn herself with, nor is there any restriction on the type or amount of make-up a believing woman may wish to apply or indulge herself in.  The believing woman is at absolute liberty in Islam to adorn and beautify herself to her heart’s desire……provided she does not display and absolutely covers her ‘zeenah’ or beauty when in the presence of non-mehram men.

But if she applies and displays her adornments of beauty and make-up when in the presence of her husband, father, brothers, uncles, etc. or other womenfolk or children….there is absolutely no harm and no restriction.

Your Question: can i bleach my face?

Sahih Al-Bukhari  7.815        Narrated by Abdullah

Allah has cursed those women who practice tattooing and those who get themselves tattooed, and those who remove their eye-brow hairs, and those who create a space between their teeth artificially to look beautiful, and such women as change the features created by Allah.  Why then should I not curse those whom the Prophet (saws) has cursed?

Except for her eye-brows, which a believing woman may not remove or shape, she is at absolute liberty in Islam to remove or reduce any unwanted hair from any part of her body she wishes, regardless of the process she uses to remove or reduce her hair (bleaching, cutting, clipping, waxing, shaving, etc.)  But under no circumstances is a believing woman allowed to cut or shape or remove her eye-brow hair.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
