Answer:

Music habit

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 7.494B       Narrated by Abu Amir

that he heard the Prophet (saws) saying, "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of (illegal) musical instruments, as lawful.”

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3654        Narrated by Abu Umamah

The Prophet (saws) said, "Allah has sent me as a Mercy to the universe and as a guidance to the universe, and my Lord, Who is Great and Glorious, has commanded me to annihilate stringed instruments, wind instruments, idols, crosses and pre-Islamic customs. My Lord, Who is Great and Glorious has sworn, 'By My might, none of My servants will drink a mouthful of wine without My giving him a similar amount of pus to drink, but he will not abandon it through fear of Me without My giving him drink from the holy tanks.'"

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 3153        Narrated by Muhammad ibn Hatib al-Jumahi

The Prophet (saws) said, "The distinction between what is lawful and what is unlawful is the song and the tambourine at a wedding."

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 4909  Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud

I heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) say: ‘Singing produces hypocrisy in the hearts’.

Dear and beloved brother in Islam, since you are already aware of all the rulings regarding the hearing of unlawful music in Islam, all you need to do now is believe with total and absolute conviction and only imagine the state of one who constantly disobeyed Allah and His Messenger (saws) when he is brought forth in the Presence of the Majestic Lord on that Inevitable Day of Judgment to give a full accounting of his deeds!

If you fear the condition of that person, then make a solemn intention in your heart that you will immediately stop doing anything which ignites or invites the Wrath and Anger of the Lord Most Majestic, Most Supreme….and start the process to substitute the hearing of illegal music by listening to the recitation of the Quran by a good ‘qaari’, or start listening to good lectures by eminent scholars, or start listening to a good translation of the Holy Quran in a language you understand best.

Dear and beloved brother, if you make a solemn intention to move away from a thing which is a sin and thus ignites and invites the Wrath of Allah, and take steps to go towards a thing which invites the Infinite Mercies and Rewards of Allah…..it is expected that your Lord Most Gracious will make your path easy for you towards the good, Insha Allah.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 79 Surah Naziaat verses 34-41:

34      Therefore when there comes the Great Overwhelming (Event, The Day of Judgment!)

35      The day when man shall remember (all) that he strove for

36      And Hell-Fire shall be placed in full view for (all) to see

37      Then for such as had transgressed all bounds

38      And had preferred the life of this world

39      Their Abode will be Hell-Fire;

40      And for such as had entertained the fear of standing before their Lord's (Tribunal), and had restrained (their) soul from lower desires

41      Their Abode will be the Garden (of Paradise).

May Allah Subhanah have Mercy upon you and us, and make yours and our constant struggle and battle to restrain our ‘nafs’ from the lower and unlawful desires which ignite the Wrath and Anger of The Lord Most Majestic.  And May the Lord Most Gracious, Most Merciful guide you and us to do deeds which are Pleasing and Acceptable to Him.  Ameen.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
