Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalam alikum!

I read a statement from the answer you given to a question. It ran:-

"Shariah Law Commands that the ‘satr’ (or the parts of the body which must remain covered) of the believing woman when in the presence of even her mehrams or other woman-folk is from the very beginning of her breasts to her knees inclusive. The believing woman, who sincerely fears Allah and the Last Day is neither allowed to expose her ‘satr’ to other mehrams or womenfolk, nor is she allowed to view the ‘satr’ of others."

What I believe and what I have heard from my teachers is that the women`s "satr" is from her hair to feet, she`s to cover everything except her face and where there is the doubt of "fitna" she is to cover her face as well. According to your statement the women should cover from breat to knees. Please elaborate this and guide me in this topic. p.s My teacher has studied Islamic Laws from Al- Azhar University Egypt.

plus I have one more question:-

Is it allowed to read namaaz-e-janaza of "Ahmedi" and visit their graves for `dua`? and Why?

I hope to receive an early reply.

My Allah guide you more and more every moment.

Allah hafiz.

Answer:

Satr of women

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: What I believe and what I have heard from my teachers is that the women`s "satr" is from her hair to feet, she`s to cover everything except her face and where there is the doubt of "fitna" she is to cover her face as well. Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 24 Surah Noor verse 31:

31      And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments.  And O ye Believers! Turn ye all together towards Allah that ye may attain Bliss.

In light of the above absolutely clear guidance of the Glorious Quran, indeed the ‘satr’ of the believing women when in the presence of non-mehram men is her whole self except ‘what may ordinarily appear thereof’ (her face, her hands, and her feet).

Your Question: According to your statement the women should cover from breat to knees. Please elaborate this and guide me in this topic

Shariah Law dictates that the absolute minimum ‘satr’ of a believing woman which she should never ever display to anyone else (except her husband) is from her breasts to her knees inclusive……the body parts between the breasts and the knees of the believing women (except for her husband) cannot even be exposed to her mehrams, or her closest relatives, or her mother, or her sisters, or any other women-folk.

Thus in conclusion, your teacher is absolutely correct and accurate that the ‘satr’ of the believing women in Islam is her whole self….but that is only when she is in the presence of non-mehram members of the opposite sex.  When in the presence of her mehram relatives and other women-folk, the ‘satr’ of the women is relaxed….but the body parts which she must absolutely cover from all mankind (except her husband) is from her breasts to her knees inclusive.  There is absolutely no ‘satr’ between a husband and a wife bonded in the sacred institution of marriage in Islam.

Your Question: Is it allowed to read namaaz-e-janaza of "Ahmedi" and visit their graves for `dua`? and Why?

Because the people who call themselves Qadiyaani or Ahmadi believe in the advent of another prophet after the advent of the Last and Final Prophet, Mohamed ar-Rasool Allah (saws), in the opinion of most good scholars and jurists in Islam, their blatant and manifest blasphemy and transgression renders them out of the fold of Islam; and they will be treated exactly like the disbelievers.

To offer a muslim burial, or make supplications of Mercy and Forgiveness to their Lord Most High over a deceased brother or sister are amongst the exclusive rights of one believer to another who believes…..and it would not be permissible for a believer to offer these rights to one who has died in disbelief, nor would it be permissible for one who believes to beseech their Lord and supplicate Him to have mercy and forgive those who have died as disbelievers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verse 113:

113    It is not fitting for the Prophet and those who believe that they should pray for forgiveness for pagans, even though they be of kin, after it is clear to them that they are companions of the Fire.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
