Does black magic can have any effect on ones career?

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalam Alaikum

What is Black Magic?

Does black magic can have any effect on ones career?

Last month I was told by some one most reliable that I am in black magic and that is why I m not getting a job. Initially I didn’t believe in it. The guy who told me this told that it is almost more than 1 and half years since he/she came to know about this but he/she didn’t believed in this but for last 1 and half years the way things are going with me regarding job that he/she ahs started to believe in this black magic and that is why he told me. I initially didn’t believe this but in past 2 months I have lost 2 jobs. And now I feel that I should also believe it. Really should I believe in it?
Please help me in this with reference to Quran and Hadith that believing in this thing is right or wrong and if right what should I do to solve this? I never believed in this and always had the feeling that RIZK is given by Allah, but after knowing about black magic somehow my mind gets diverted towards it what should I do?

Should I talk about this with my elders as I have never talked about it with someone?

By beleiving in this am i doing Shirk

Answer:

Magic & Career

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 102:

102   They followed what the evil ones gave out (falsely) against the power of Solomon; the blasphemers were not Solomon but the evil ones teaching men magic and such things as came down at Babylon to the Angels Harut and Marut.  But neither of these taught anyone (such things) without saying: "We are only for trial so do not blaspheme." They learned from them the means to sow discord between man and wife. But they could not thus harm anyone except by Allah's permission.  And they learned what harmed them not what profited them.  And they knew that the buyers of (magic) would have no share in the happiness of the Hereafter.  And vile was the price for which they did sell their souls if they but knew!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verses 116-118:

116    Said Moses: "Throw ye (first)."  So when they (the magicians) threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them: for they showed a great (feat of) magic.

117    We put it into Moses's mind by inspiration: "throw (now) thy rod": and behold!  It swallows up straightway all the falsehoods which they fake!

118    Thus Truth was confirmed and all that they did was made of no effect.

Your Question: What is Black Magic?

Beloved Brother, there is no such thing as ‘black’, or ‘white’ or ‘blue’ magic; but magic is magic, and in light of the guidance of the Quran as quoted above, magic is of two types:

  1. The type of magic performed by the two Angels Harut and Marut by the permission of Allah Subhanah as a trial for the people, whereby the magic would cause differences between a husband and a wife in marriage.
  2. The second type of magic was an illusion performed by the magicians in the court of Pharoah, whereby their staff when thrown became a snake.

Your Question: Does black magic can have any effect on ones career?

Beloved Brother, the first thing we, as believers, must understand that those who claim to do magic do not have the power to hurt or benefit anyone, without the permission of Allah Subhanah.  No harm and no benefit can happen to the believer without the Will of Allah Subhanah.  If Allah does not will it, all the magicians of the world can get together and try their magic on someone, they cannot harm him in the least!; for Absolutely All Power and All Strength belongs to none save Allah Subhanah Alone!

Allah Says in His Holy Quran Chapter 35 Surah Fatir verse 2:

2        What Allah out of His Mercy doth bestow on mankind there is none can withhold: what He doth withhold there is none can grant apart from Him: and He is the Exalted in Power Full of Wisdom.

When one fears that the source of some affliction that has effected him might be the effect of ‘magic’ or the ‘evil eye’, it is only natural that one would try and find a remedy or antidote to undo the cause of his affliction!

In his search to undo the ‘magic’ which one supposedly fears might be done on him, in their ignorance, one may be inclined to go to some supposed ‘magicians’ or experts who claim to remove the magic and do or say things as prescribed by these supposed experts which might lead them to leave their trust and belief in the Absolute Powers of Allah Subhanah and follow the path of ‘shirk’.

In His Supreme Mercy towards His believing slaves, the All-Knowing All-Wise Lord revealed the Ultimate antidote in His Revelations of the Surahs Al-Falaq and An-Naas to counter any and all unknown harm and mischief which one fears might have taken effect on him; thus seeking refuge with none save their Lord Creator and keeping their trust and belief firm in Him and His Absolute Powers of Protection and Mercy.  If one ever fears any harm or mischief from anyone or anything in creation, all one who sincerely believes in Allah and the Last Day needs to do is recite the Surah Al-Falaq and An-Naas, and put his trust in his Lord Most Supreme to protect him from any and all harm.

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 1019        Narrated by Abu Sa'id al-Khudri

The Prophet (saws) used to seek Allah’s protection against the ‘Shayateen’ (amongst the Jinns) and the ‘evil eye’ (spells, charms, magic, envy, etc.) till Surahs al-Falaq and an-Naas were revealed.  After they were revealed he (saws) stuck to them and discarded everything beside them.

Your Statement: Last month I was told by some one most reliable that I am in black magic and that is why I m not getting a job. Initially I didn’t believe in it. The guy who told me this told that it is almost more than 1 and half years since he/she came to know about this

The question that should immediately arise that how did that ‘some one’ know that you are under the influence of magic?  Did he get a revelation from Allah?  Did an Angel from Allah come and inform him?  Or does he have knowledge of the ‘unseen’???

Beloved brother in Islam, rest assured that there is no revelation coming to anyone after the death of the Last Messenger of Allah (saws), nor does an Angel from Allah come down and give any information to anyone about anyone else, nor does anyone have or possess the power to know anything from the ‘unseen’!!!!

The person’s claim is absolutely baseless and you should not give any importance to it in the least!

Your Qeustion: I never believed in this and always had the feeling that RIZK is given by Allah, but after knowing about black magic somehow my mind gets diverted towards it what should I do?

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 17 Surah Israa verse 30:

30      Verily your Lord does provide sustenance in abundance for whom He Pleases and He provides in a just measure (to whom He Pleases): for He does Know and Regard all His servants.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 13 Surah Raad verse 26:

26      Allah does enlarge or grant by (strict) measure sustenance to whom so He Pleases.  (The worldly) rejoice in the life of this world: but the life of this world is but little comfort in the Hereafter.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 29 Surah Ankabut verse 62:

62      Allah enlarges the sustenance (which He gives) to whichever of His servants He Pleases; and He (similarly) grants by (strict) measure (as He Pleases): for Allah has full knowledge of all things.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 34 Surah Saba verse 36:

Say: "Verily my Lord enlarges and restricts the provision to whom He Pleases but most men understand not."

Dear and Beloved brother in Islam, without an iota of a doubt, it is Allah Subhanah Alone Who enlarges or restricts one’s ‘rizk’ or sustenance as He Wills and Pleases.  Know and believe with conviction brother, that if all the magicians and people and jinns of the world got together and tried to take away a part of your ‘rizk’ which your Lord had prescribed for you….they would not be able to do so in the least!   And if all the world got together and tried to give you something which your Lord Most High has not prescribed for you….they would not be able to do so in the least!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 35 Surah Fatir verse 2:

2        What Allah out of His Mercy doth bestow on mankind there is none can withhold: what He doth withhold there is none can grant apart from Him: and He is the Exalted in Power Full of Wisdom.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verse 17:

17      "If Allah touch thee with affliction none can remove it but He; if He touch thee with happiness He hath power over all things.

Dear and beloved brother in Islam, fear neither magic nor anything in existence, but fear your Lord Alone Who created you and everything in existence.  Keep your faith and trust in Him Alone, for He Alone has the power to help and fulfill any and every need.  And if ever the Shaytaan tries to divert your attention towards fearing any ‘unseen’ evil or harm, seek refuge in your Lord Most High from the whisperings of the Shaytaan, and recite the 113th Surah Al-Falaq and the 114th Surah An-Naas….it is expected that your Lord will protect you from any and all evil, Insha Allah.

Your Question: Should I talk about this with my elders as I have never talked about it with someone?
One is at liberty to seek guidance and advice from whomever one wills; and the best people to seek advice on such matters are from those brothers who sincerely fear Allah and strive to guide from the Quran and the Sunnah.

Your Question: By beleiving in this am i doing Shirk?

If one believes that something or someone other than Allah Subhanah Alone has the power to hurt or harm someone in the ‘unseen’, or something or someone other than Allah Subhanah Alone has the power to benefit someone in the ‘unseen’…then indeed it would be a manifestation of the abomination of ‘shirk’.

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws),   one can be assured of never ever being misled;   but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
