AOA
I wanted to know that if wudu breaks in the middle of a prayer, does the prayer become invalid or could you just ask for forgiveness ? because it wasnt ur fault that the wudu broke , is it ?

Answer:

Wudu Break in middle of Prayer

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: I wanted to know that if wudu breaks in the middle of a prayer, does the prayer become invalid or could you just ask for forgiveness ?

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 205   Narrated by Ali ibn Talib

The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: ‘When any of you breaks wind during the prayer, he should turn away, perform ablution, and repeat the prayer.’

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 1.137         Narrated by Abu Huraira

Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "The prayer of a person who does Hadath is not accepted till he performs (repeats) the ablution."  A person from Hadaramout asked Abu Huraira, "What is 'Hadath'?"  Abu Huraira replied, "'Hadath' means the passing of wind from the anus."

To be in the state of ‘wudu’ is an absolutely obligatory pre-condition when offering one’s prayers.  If one passes wind during prayers forgiveness alone would not suffice and the wudu would be considered broken and invalid; thus the person must leave the prayers immediately, re-do the wudu and then perform the prayer again.

Your Question: because it wasnt ur fault that the wudu broke , is it ?

Relieving oneself or passing of wind is natural and not a fault, but it is something one should strive to do in privacy and not in public.  When the believers are gathered in prayer, it is as if they are all in audience of their Majestic Lord Creator, and striving to concentrate to listen to the recitation of His Glorious Words and Praises.  When one amongst the congregation desires to relieve himself or pass wind, it is only basic etiquette that he leave the gathering or congregation, relieve himself, and join the prayer again after he has performed the ablution.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
