I often go to a mosque near my office for friday prayers there the imam is always talking before the khudba. He is always giving importance to people other than prophet mohammed like someone in ajmer or other people whom they visit he also gives importance to prophet mohammed which i should tell but after talking about prophet momammed he brings in these people. Last friday he also asked people to go to URUS and things like that which if you are INDIAN would know what should one do when he is listening to such a thing which is not from QURAN or HADITH

Imam talking about Urs in Khutba

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,  no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

 

Your Question: what should one do when he is listening to such a thing which is not from QURAN or HADITH

Sahih Muslim Hadith 79          Narrated by Abu Sa'id al-Khudri

I heard the Messenger of Allah (saws) as saying: ‘He who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with his hand; and if he has not strength enough to do it, then he should do it with his tongue; and if he has not strength enough to even do that, then he should (abhor it) from his heart; and that is the least of faith.’

 

Beloved brother in Islam, if you find that the ‘imam’ of the masjid is saying something which is directly against the guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah; and you have enough power or good believers who think alike, then it is your duty in Islam to talk to the ‘imam’ and let him know that this is absolutely not acceptable! 

 

If you do not hold that much power in the mosque, then you must talk to the ‘imam’ yourself and let him know in clear terms that his talk is absolutely against the Quran and the Sunnah, and thus not acceptable.  Or alternatively, you could talk to the ‘imaams’ of the other mosques and get them to stop the ‘imam’ who gives such sermons.

 

If you do not have the capacity to even do that, then at least abhor and detest what is being said against the Quran and Sunnah; and that would be an affirmation of the least of your faith.

 

If, even after your best efforts, you are unable to deter the person from giving such sermons which go directly against the guidance of the Quran and Sunnah; then it would be best if you attend another mosque in the vicinity and save yourself from such evil company.

 

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me.  Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
